Job Description

The Molding & Maintenance Manager at Valeo is responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance of production tooling, leading new and current mold functions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves developing cost-effective tooling standards, managing spare parts, and contributing to new project competitiveness through tooling improvements. The manager will also oversee die maintenance activities, focusing on safety, quality, cost, and team development, while actively deploying methodologies like QRQC, 5S, ERIM, and TPM to optimize operations and manage budgets.
Must Have:
  • Develop and implement cost-effective tooling standards and procedures.
  • Lead and manage new/current mold functions, integrating FMEA.
  • Demonstrate shopfloor mold breakdown and defect analysis with FTA.
  • Lead QRQC analysis to identify root causes, PDCA-FTA, and formalize LLCs.
  • Ensure proper tooling usage and maintenance, proposing improvements.
  • Manage spare parts and machining workshop availability and stock.
  • Be responsible for die maintenance activities (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delay, Motivation).
  • Lead continuous improvement of the perimeter (Mold QRQC, SSI, 5S, Valeo 5 Axes).
  • Manage people, including safety rules, training, and succession planning.
  • Manage standards like ERIM deployment and equipment reliability action plans.
  • Optimize maintenance costs and manage the maintenance budget.
  • Contribute to successful new projects, including equipment launches and Lean Process Design.

Molding & Maintenance Manager

Ensure production tooling maintenance

  • Develop & implement cost effective standards for tooling with procedure
  • Lead manage the new mold / current mold of all molding function with integrate with FMEA
  • Demonstrate shopfloor mold breakdown , mold defect for APU Escalation with FTA and improve plan
  • To cooperation with the HQ Tooling standardization with apply to IIT Molding
  • Lead QRQC analysis to identify root cause(s), PDCA-FTA and formalize LLCs with APU/Customer
  • Ensure tooling are properly used in production and die maintenance; propose improvements
  • Ensure spare parts before SOP Mold, Machining workshop available and stock management

Contribute to new project competitiveness by proposing tooling improvements:

  • Propose improvements to the product group tooling standards
  • Ensure that LLCs are implemented for new tooling design
  • Ensure tooling commissioning process when receiving new dies / molds
  • Anticipate new equipment set-up that are necessary to maintain / improve day to day operations (CNC, EDM, welding, 3D...)

Be responsible of the die maintenance activities (in terms of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delay and Motivation) in terms of targets achievement and results improvement.

  • Ensure that any new employee of his/her perimeter follows an Induction process.
  • Proactive focus on safety, wellbeing and 5S enhancements, takes responsibility.

  • Lead daily, weekly, monthly meeting and organize delegation rules and people development
  • Conduct annual appraisals, salary review, career interviews, succession planning & give feedback.
  • Required prepare, or otherwise manage and report on operating expenses and capital expenditure ensuring budget constraints are maintained or reduced.

Lead continuous improvement of his/her perimeter

  • Lead Mold QRQC Maintenance activity program deployment on the dies/molds
  • Lead cooperation with APU QRQC on 10.10am to finding problem and how to action
  • Lead invite with APU in SSI Activity to improve defect for molding (Scratch/Dent/Gas/Temp/Oil)
  • Lead and deploy 5S methodology in Die Maintenance department
  • Ensure Continuous Improvement activities to apply Valeo 5 Axes
  • Perform regular benchmark to other Valeo plants or suppliers to detect and apply good practices / new technologies

Manage people

  • Ensure that safety rules for maintenance activities are defined, consistent and applied (such as LOTO procedure)
  • Manage maintenance supervisors
  • Manage age pyramid in order to be able to organize on time the competence transfer towards successors
  • Manage training plan for his team, including technical skills, using magic square. Ensures that his team is trained to QRQC : Line QRQC, Maintenance 5 WHYs, PDCA/FTA. Builds trainings program to educate Direct Labour to maintenance basics.
  • Performs ERIM OJTs with shopfloor activity with production

Manage standards

  • Participate actively to ERIM deployment with production teams
  • Manage a global equipment reliability action plan
  • Optimize maintenance costs during corrective and preventive maintenance activities Implement Maintenance QRQC red box & Maintenance dpt visual key indicators Manage of co-manage with the APU Manager the Maintenance QRQC
  • Detect refurbishing/renewal needs and builds and follows potential necessary action plan Lead the delegation of preventive maintenance level 1 & 2 towards production teams; Ensures that Direct Labour is properly trained and that OJT is in place
  • Ensure Preventive Maintenance is organized and done according to need, with planification and communication to production teams (MPS).
  • Participate actively to the Mother Daughter link concerning the maintenance field.

Manage continuous improvement

  • Lead kaizen actions to improve in maintenance field, such as : accessibility to organs Manage a productivity action plan (spare parts, energy)
  • Manage VPS workshops (TPM, 5S) and participate to stop scrap activity
  • Propose to plant manager and manage maintenance budget
  • Each manager is empowered to contribute to reduce risks to prevent incidents and ergonomics issues into his/her job description.
  • Propose and drive maintenance strategy
  • Implement communication flow with equipment development teams to get taken into account maintenance lessons learns (kaizen card) = Back to design flow

Contribute to successful new projects

  • Make sure that maintenance is contributing to new equipment launches and participate to Lean Process Design
  • Ensure that rules concerning equipment manufacturer assistance onsite/at distance are involved in specifications and contract negotiated by Purchase department.
  • Participate to maintenance contract negotiation with purchasing department
  • Participate to the definition of standard parts to be requested in Site General Specifications for New equipments
  • Use experience & methodology (ERIM, TPM, …) to propose improvements on new machines & associated equipments
