Job Description

This role involves the complete software lifecycle, from design and development to testing and deployment of feature releases, focusing on new software capabilities. The specialist will ensure efficient use of platform resources, optimize network performance, and contribute to technology investment recommendations. Experience in an agile SDLC environment, utilizing scrum-based projects and user stories, is essential for defining and executing development tasks.
Good To Have:
  • Software development experience in mission-critical, real-time, low latency, high transaction, and fault-tolerant applications.
  • Experience working within an agile SDLC environment, utilizing scrum-based projects and user stories.
Must Have:
  • Provide software design, development, testing, and deployment of feature releases.
  • Ensure developed solutions efficiently use platform resources and do not degrade the system.
  • Ensure network systems interact with Telstra processes to deliver market-leading customer experiences.
  • Assess vendor solutions and manage vendor performance and technology delivery.
  • Contribute to technology investment and business asset recommendations.
  • Maintain high capability in network engineering, including new and emerging technologies.
  • At least 4+ years of experience in developing and operating production-grade software.
  • Experience in Ansible Development, REST API Development, React.js, Docker, Kubernetes, Python 3.
  • Proficiency with Relational Databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL.
  • Experienced in virtualization, containerization, and container orchestration.
  • Exceptional debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in continuous build/integration and deployment automation through JIRA, Confluence.
  • Agile and DevOps practitioner.
  • Experienced in test automation using frameworks like Robot framework.
  • Follow programming standards to write code and document solutions in a structured manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide the software design, development, testing and deployment of feature releases to support the development of new software capability
  • Ensures all developed solutions deployed to production efficiently use platform resources and do not degrade the system.
  • Ensuring that network systems and components interact with Telstra processes and systems to deliver market leading customer experiences. You do this by using your expertise and experience of domain components to address incidents, problems, and upgrades to optimise network performance.
  • Assessing capability of vendor solutions and offerings to meet business requirements and managing vendor performance and technology delivery.
  • Contributing significantly to technology investment and business asset recommendations and assessments based on extensive knowledge of new and emerging technologies. This includes developing platform specific technology roadmaps that leverage opportunities from evolving and future technologies.
  • Maintaining a high level of capability in network engineering, including new and emerging technologies, networks tools, systems and processes so that you can model continuous learning and actively provide coaching and mentoring of other network engineering team members.

To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in:

Essential skills:

  • Having at least 4+ years of experience in developing and operating production grade software using the following technologies
  • Ansible Development
  • REST API Development
  • React.js
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Python 3
  • Relational Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • Experienced in virtualization, containerization and container orchestration.
