Job Description

PayPay is seeking a leader candidate for new business development and service planning, specifically for promotional services targeting manufacturers. This role is within the Merchant Strategy Division, which aims to create new value from the PayPay platform by leading new business concepts, service planning, development, and growth. The mission is to leverage "PayPay Points" to contribute to the sales of manufacturers' products and services, expanding PayPay's touchpoints for users. The role involves business plan development, budget management, service and campaign planning, and project management, working with development and sales teams.
Good To Have:
  • Practical experience in O2O/OMO related businesses or services
  • Practical experience in electronic money, prepaid payment methods, or payment networks
  • Experience in internet service pricing plan formulation
  • Experience in creating materials and presenting for approval by management/decision-makers
  • Business-level English proficiency
  • Business budget planning (sales/cost) formulation skills

About the Job

Introduction to the Merchant Strategy Division

PayPay provides services that enrich both users and merchants, such as coupons and stamp cards, in addition to payment at affiliated stores for its 65 million users. Beyond retail stores and restaurants, we also offer services such as municipal-led gift certificate issuance and promotional support for manufacturers' products. Our mission is to create new value from the PayPay platform by leading new business concepts, service planning, development, and growth.

Introduction to the Position's Department

"PayPay Points" are utilized for incentives based on PayPay payments and various campaign incentives. The mission is to have manufacturers and other companies utilize these "PayPay Points" to contribute to the sales of their products and services. The job content is diverse, ranging from business plan development for selling PayPay Points to manufacturers and other companies, budget management, existing and new service planning, and campaign planning. While still a small, elite team, we are dedicated to solving various issues by forming projects with related departments such as development and sales. By creating various scenarios where PayPay Points can be utilized by manufacturers and other companies, in addition to affiliated stores, we can expand the possibilities for users to interact with PayPay. From this perspective, this position plays a very important role in the current PayPay.

Background of Recruitment

PayPay started in 2018. While still focusing on increasing the number of users and affiliated stores, since fiscal year 2022, we have entered a phase of accelerating revenue growth from affiliated stores, which will become the second pillar of our business. The Merchant Strategy Division is responsible for this. Currently, in the affiliated store business, in addition to growing existing services such as PayPay Coupons and PayPay Stamp Cards, we are also focusing on creating new services that will become future business pillars. We are looking for individuals who can work with us from scratch to create plans and services that will lead to increased sales of manufacturers' products and services by effectively utilizing "PayPay Points," and who can eventually demonstrate leadership in service planning for the affiliated store business. To realize a super app for affiliated stores, it is necessary to create new services that will be No. 1 in various value chains of stores, especially in promotions. Therefore, we need more personnel who deeply understand the schemes and cases of service platforms overseas and domestically, and who can promote business strategy formulation and concrete service planning and launch. We will strengthen our personnel system to strengthen and further grow our business.

Job Responsibilities

As a planning member of PayPay's affiliated store business, you will be responsible for planning and promoting promotional services for manufacturers and other companies, and launching new services. You will be involved in a wide range of tasks from upstream to downstream planning, including market environment analysis, concept development for services and new features, organization of development functional requirements, business design, and project management. We will create services that bring a "digital information revolution" to traditional industries such as restaurants and retail stores.
