PayPay is seeking a Payment Solution Planning and Promotion Lead to drive the creation and market launch of innovative payment services, leveraging AI and data. This pivotal role involves leading the entire product lifecycle, from ideation for next-generation QR payments and payment terminals to detailed planning and go-to-market strategies. The position is critical for shaping PayPay's future, fostering new business models in the AI x payment domain, and contributing to the company's mission of generating new value from its robust platform, ultimately enriching users and merchants.

About the Work

Introduction to the Merchant Strategy Division

The Merchant Strategy Division plans and promotes services that enrich both users and merchants, such as coupons, stamp cards, and common points (PayPay Points), in addition to payments at member stores for 70 million users. Furthermore, it is a crucial division responsible for new business development for merchant-向け services, from upstream to downstream, including the expansion of multi-payment terminal services that allow the use of other payment methods like credit cards in addition to PayPay payments. Our mission is to create new value from the PayPay platform by leading the conception of new businesses, service planning, development, and growth.

Introduction to the Position's Department

We aim to enrich various stakeholders who use the PayPay app, including users, businesses, and local governments. We plan and improve services leveraging PayPay's payment business foundation, create synergies with group companies, and build cross-service infrastructure. This involves a wide range of tasks from concept planning to project management and development promotion. By creating various scenarios through our services, we can expand touchpoints not only with merchants but also with end-users and PayPay. From this perspective, this position plays a very important role in PayPay's goal of becoming a super app.

Background of Recruitment

PayPay launched in 2018. While still focusing on increasing the number of users and merchants, since fiscal year 2022, we have entered a phase of accelerating revenue growth from merchants, which is our second pillar. The Merchant Strategy Division is responsible for this. Currently, in the merchant business, in addition to growing existing services like PayPay Coupons and PayPay Stamp Cards, we are also focusing on creating new services that will become future business pillars. Job Description

[Creating the Future with Generative AI x Fintech]

This job involves creating new PayPay payment services from scratch and spreading them to the world. This is a crucial position that leads everything from brainstorming new payment service and product ideas that will shape PayPay's future, to detailed planning, and finally launching them into the market. Specifically, the main role is to plan and realize services that are not yet in the world, such as payment terminals and new forms of QR payments, utilizing the power of AI and data.

Main Job Responsibilities:

1. Lead planning for new payment services and products

  • Lead the planning of new payment mechanisms that everyone will want to use, such as "PayPay-like QR payment & credit card terminals" and "next-generation payment UX," in collaboration with AI.
  • Utilize generative AI to extract insights from customer behavior data and formulate product concepts.

2. Formulate and promote Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies

  • Design how to make new services known and used by many people.
  • Scientifically verify and execute GTM strategies through data-driven user analysis and optimization using AI.

3. Oversee and promote large-scale projects

  • Promote complex projects such as the growth strategy for PayCAS (payment terminals) and collaboration with PayPay Card.
  • Lead project management (e.g., issue prediction, resource optimization).

4. Internal and external collaboration

  • Collaborate with experts such as engineering, data science, and AI development teams to create new business models in the AI x payment domain.
  • Promote collaboration with external partners and startups.
  • There may be cases where you are seconded to a PayPay group company.
