About the Work
Introduction to the Merchant Strategy Division
PayPay provides services that enrich both users and merchants, such as coupons and stamp cards, in addition to payment at merchant stores for its 68 million users. We also offer services for local government-led gift certificate issuance and manufacturer product promotion, beyond just retailers and restaurants. Our mission is to create new value from the PayPay platform by leading new business concepts, service planning, development, and growth.
Introduction to the Position's Department
With the mission of reflecting merchant/user issues and business opportunities in products to maximize monetization, we handle a wide range of tasks from concept planning to project management and development promotion. This includes planning and improving merchant services leveraging PayPay's payment business foundation, creating synergy with group companies, and building cross-service infrastructure. By creating various scenarios through merchant services, we can also expand the possibilities for users to interact with PayPay. From this perspective, this position plays a very important role in the current PayPay.

Background of Recruitment
PayPay started in 2018. While still focusing on increasing users and merchants, from fiscal year 2022, we have entered a phase of accelerating revenue growth from merchants, which will be our second pillar. The Merchant Strategy Division is responsible for this. Currently, in the merchant business, in addition to growing existing services such as PayPay coupons and PayPay stamp cards, we are also focusing on creating new services that will become future business pillars. We are recruiting talent who can lead the creation or growth of services in line with business growth and expansion, and eventually demonstrate leadership in service planning for the merchant business. To realize a super app for merchants, we need to create new services that will be No. 1 in various value chains of stores, especially in sales promotion. Therefore, we need more personnel who deeply understand the schemes and cases of service platforms overseas and domestically, and who can promote business strategy formulation, specific service planning, and launch. We will strengthen our personnel system to reinforce and further grow our business.
Job Responsibilities
[Creating the future with Generative AI × Fintech]
This job supports the management of merchants using PayPay with the power of data and AI. This position responds to the voices of SMB merchants and sole proprietors who use PayPay daily, saying "I want it to be more convenient" and "I want to increase sales," and evolves services with the power of AI and data. As a central role supporting product growth, you will lead user data analysis, AI-driven personalization, UX improvement, etc., to drive service growth and intelligence (AI integration).
Main Job Responsibilities:
1. Planning and promotion of growth strategies for existing services
- Formulate strategies to increase the usage rate and satisfaction of existing PayPay merchant services (e.g., PayPay My Store Light Plan, coupons, stamps, early payment service, etc.), and lead AI-driven growth measures.
- Utilize AI to segment and analyze usage status, visualize behavioral patterns for each merchant, and promote individually optimized measure proposals (retention measures, upsell strategies).
2. Data-driven issue discovery and improvement proposals
- Lead data analysis and hypothesis testing using SQL, BI tools, machine learning models, and generative AI.
- Deeply investigate "why is it not used?" and "how can we make them continue using it?" with data, and optimize the merchant experience numerically.
- NPS analysis and improvement proposals using text mining are also welcome.
3. Leading UX improvement for the PayPay for Business app
- Quantitatively extract UI/UX issues using AI tools (e.g., user behavior log analysis, heatmap AI analysis) to make the app intuitive for merchants.
- Collaborate with the design team to rapidly cycle through UX improvement proposals → A/B testing → production release.
4. Planning new services and features
- Improve existing services and plan new merchant support features (e.g., new merchant-facing features close to payment and finance, such as AI-driven fully automated customer acquisition features).
- Collaborate with the data science and AI engineering teams to promote projects that incorporate AI functions into services (product AI integration).
5. Cross-departmental collaboration and execution promotion
- Work as a central figure to grow services from an AI × business perspective, collaborating with specialized teams such as development, data science, and marketing.
*There may be cases where you are seconded to a PayPay group company.

- Experience in web service or app "growth" (3 years or more)
- Experience in creating business requirement definition documents for new products or improvement projects
- Experience in planning and executing service improvements based on data analysis
- Experience in leading UI/UX improvements from a user perspective
- Track record of quantitatively increasing service users and engagement
- Experience in designing measures utilizing generative AI
- Practical experience in UX improvement, service automation, and decision support using AI
- Understanding and interest in the latest trends in AI (LLM, multimodal AI, agent technology, etc.)
- Skills in strategic proposal and business impact explanation to management
Desired Experience/Skills
- Data extraction and analysis skills using SQL
- Experience in designing and implementing A/B tests
- Experience in designing and operating generative AI, machine learning, and data analysis infrastructure
- Practical experience in rapidly iterating agile development and PoC (Proof of Concept)
- Proficiency in problem discovery and product improvement through data analysis and AI utilization
- Experience collaborating with global partners in English
