This role as Product Sustainability Advisor at Thales, located in La Ferté Saint Aubin, involves guiding technical and management teams on environmental performance for development and support programs. Key responsibilities include creating environmental deliverables, ensuring product compliance with regulations, deploying eco-design practices like Life Cycle Assessments, leading obsolete surface treatment substitution, and contributing to ISO 14001 certification and the Product Sustainability roadmap.
Must Have:
  • Support technical and management teams in considering the environment and environmental performance of solutions and development and support programs.
  • Produce internal and external environmental deliverables (regulatory compliance files and certificates, hazardous substance mapping, environmental impact control files, etc.).
  • Guarantee product compliance with environmental regulations upon market release.
  • Participate in the deployment of eco-design: support design choices, conduct Life Cycle Analyses (LCA), implement eco-design actions.
  • Lead work on substituting obsolete surface treatments in conjunction with the technologist.
  • Contribute to the sustainability of ISO 14001 product certification through continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the deployment of the 'Product Sustainability' business roadmap within the entity.

Your daily life

Within the Tactical Vehicles and Systems activity, the La Ferté Saint Aubin site specializes in the production of land and airborne weapon systems (mortars, ammunition, rockets, etc.), force protection systems, and area control. With its 450 employees, engineers, technicians, and specialized workers, the La Ferté Saint Aubin site ensures research and development, production, testing, as well as all the "support" functions necessary for the design of high-performance systems essential to the success of operational missions. Thales has formed, with the German defense group DIEHL, a Joint-Venture "JUNGHANS T2M" which has 165 employees, allowing the two companies to combine their electronic and precision mechanical skills and thus become one of the world leaders in the field of ammunition fuses. This Joint-Venture is also present on the La Ferté Saint Aubin site.

As Product Sustainability Advisor, your main missions will be the following:

  • Support technical and management teams in considering the environment and the environmental performance of solutions and development and support programs.

Your profile

Holder of a Bac+5 (Master's degree) in Chemistry, you have significant experience in work related to REACh Regulation and/or the substitution of surface treatments.

You are familiar with eco-design concepts, Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), and master environmental assessment tools.

You are able to perform technical/financial/environmental gain solution assessments.

You have excellent interpersonal skills, a pedagogical spirit, and know how to be persuasive.

You like versatility, you are reactive and autonomous.

You are fluent in English (oral and written).
