Job Summary
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller to implement, administer, and maintain cost control systems, track project budgets, and provide financial forecasts for medium to large-sized construction projects. The role involves preparing and reviewing cost estimates, evaluating fee proposals, managing cost reports, assisting with project schedules, and developing reporting tools. Candidates must be proficient in data manipulation using spreadsheets and ensure data accuracy for audit trails, potentially including SOX control responsibilities.
Must Have
- Implement and maintain cost control systems
- Track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts
- Prepare and review cost estimates
- Evaluate and analyze fee proposals/bids
- Provide forecasts and cash flow analysis
- Maintain and manage cost reports
- Assist in project schedule development and validation
- Develop reporting tracking tools and generate cost reports
- Build intricate spreadsheets for data manipulation
- Extract and transform data from multiple sources
- Reconcile data for accuracy and audit trails
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, or engineering
- Minimum 8 years of cost management experience in construction
- Experience supporting cost management on medium or large construction projects
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters (procurement routes, value management, value engineering)
- Strong communication skills

Job Description
Turner & Townsend are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller looking for the next step or are currently undertaking a similar role in a similar environment.
As Cost Controller, you will be involved with:
- Implement, administer and maintain cost control system and procedures to track project budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts for projects of medium complexity and value
- Assist in the preparation and review of cost estimates
- Provide cost information to support decision and alternative selection
- Evaluate and analyze fee proposals / bids and provide recommendation for decision making
- Provide forecasts and cash flow analysis
- Maintain and manage the cost report and provide regular updates on financial position.
- Assist in the development, validation and maintenance of the project schedule.
- Assist in developing reporting tracking tools and generating cost reports on a regular basis, including evaluation of earned value.
- Build intricate spreadsheets to enable fast and accurate data manipulation of large datasets.
- Extract data from several sources, transforming it to fit operational needs.
- Reconcile data to support complete accuracy and create a clean audit trail.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience working in a cost management role in the construction industry.
- Experience supporting cost management on medium or large sized construction projects.
- Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience in Life Science Construction preferred.
