Job Description

The Senior Systems Designer will join the studio in Boston to work on Project Orion, the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077. The responsibilities include creating and implementing game systems, mentoring junior designers, and acting as a subject matter expert. The role involves close collaboration with the Design Director and other teams to deliver engaging and player-friendly systems. The designer will be responsible for managing systems like progression, crafting, and population systems, ensuring clear communication through documentation and meetings. The role requires passion for RPGs and a deep understanding of player expectations.
Must have:
  • 5+ years' experience in game systems design with a shipped AAA title.
  • Proven success in creating compelling systems in a role-playing game.
  • Clear communication of complex concepts.
  • Passion for game systems design and sharing knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine with experience in implementation.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and openness for changes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for role-playing games and understanding player expectations.

Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Senior Systems Designer to join our studio in Boston to work on Project Orion, the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077. You will contribute to creating worlds through design and its translation into systems enhancing the game’s experience. If you would describe yourself as clever, collaborative, and passionate about role-playing games, then this position is for you! 

Daily Responsibilities:

  • You will work in close cooperation with our Design Director, Systems Design Lead and other teams to deliver consistent, engaging and player friendly systems into our game.
  • Create, develop, implement and manage game systems such as progression, crafting, crowd and population systems and more.  
  • Ensure that systems designs are clearly communicated to everyone involved in their implementation through documentation, meetings and relationships.
  • Mentor and guide junior systems designers.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, sharing knowledge with the rest of the teams and improving the process of systems design.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in game systems design with at least one shipped AAA title.
  • Proven success in creating compelling and innovative systems in a role-playing game.
  • Proficiency in clear communicating of complex concepts, including experience in creating detailed project documentation.
  • Passion for game systems design and the ability to effectively share knowledge with other team members. 
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine, with experience in implementing and iterating game systems.
  • Very strong problem-solving abilities and openness for changes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design ideas and concepts clearly.
  • Passion for role-playing games and a deep understanding of player expectations in the genre.

Additional Information

This job requires working in Boston, US.
Working mode: in-office in a hybrid or full-time capacity.
