Job Description

As a Senior Technical Artist, you will be working alongside a talented art team driving forward cutting-edge visuals, providing technical guidance and defining art workflow and pipelines. The individual will be the bridge between the art and code departments, working with veterans of the industry to further your personal development, mentoring and peer critiquing. Help to build an excellent creative environment, fostering self-improvement and ownership, whilst establishing pipelines and processes that empower discovery whilst refining intuitive, aspirational, awe-inspiring games. Key responsibilities include shader development using Unreal Engine, shader optimization across multiple platforms, and providing technical support for VFX optimization. You will also guide feature development, consult other disciplines, champion tech art requirements, and create scope for others.
Must have:
  • Create and refine shaders and master materials in Unreal Engine.
  • Optimize shaders across multiple platforms including mobile.
  • Provide technical support and guidance for VFX optimization.

The individual will be the bridge between the art and code departments, working with veterans of the industry to further your personal development, mentoring and peer critiquing. Help to build an excellent creative environment, fostering self-improvement and ownership, whilst establishing pipelines and processes that empower discovery whilst refining intuitive, aspirational, awe-inspiring games.   

 

The rundown:  

  • Full time (37.5 hours per week)  
  • 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
  • Fully remote within the UK 
  • Salary is competitive and dependent on experience 

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Shader development: Create, refine, and iterate on shaders and master materials within Unreal Engine's node graph and HLSL shader code, ensuring they are built in a user-friendly way for the art team. 
  • Shader optimization and profiling: Experienced in optimizing shaders across multiple platforms, including mobile, to enhance memory usage and performance. 
  • VFX Optimization: Provide technical support and guidance for the creation and optimization of VFX, with expertise in Niagara. 
  • Work with counterparts on the engineering and art teams, guiding feature development accessibility. 
  • Consult other disciplines (e.g. programmers, artists, designers), seeking feedback before and after implementation. 
  • Champion the tech art requirements for the studio 
  • Create scope for others, break down work to be undertaken in parallel, calling out dependencies and review points. 
  • Improve the efficiency and/or developer experience of other staff, via software or process.
