It is set in historical China and features a realistic visual style and authentic traditional combat gameplay. The project is making use of Unreal Engine 5 and is co-developed in collaboration between Montreal and our main studio in China.
We are a co-development video game studio based in Montreal, Canada, committed to delivering exceptional gaming experiences. Our team collaborates closely with our headquarters in China. The position is currently open to candidates in Montreal or Toronto.
We are seeking a Level Designer who is passionate about creating immersive & captivating game worlds players will love to explore. The ideal candidate should be curious, invested, and excited about experimenting with innovative ideas to create both the big and little moments in the game world that enhance the narrative and make it come to life.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work closely with other team members that belong to a variety of departments to implement content and gameplay prototypes.
- Build, script, maintain and optimize game worlds using proven methods and tools.
- Provide assistance and technical solutions to solve logic, performance and other issues.
- Have a strong desire to support and help others with a judgement free attitude.
- Collaborate with the programming team to improve and develop systems and tools to assist and empower yourself and other members of the team.
- Create and maintain documentation for assets, systems, metrics and best practices.
- Maintain the stability of the build, ensuring it is clean and error-free.
The skills we’re looking for:
- Degree in Game Design, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience working on AAA.
- Proven experience as a Technical Design with a focus on supporting Level Design teams. Having shipped at least 3 titles, with at least 1 being in Unreal Engine.
- Strong skills with Unreal’s Blueprint and Components. Bonus if you have Python script experience.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot a variety of technical issues.
- Creative but with attention to detail, and a passion for creating interesting and immersive worlds.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and support when required.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving project goals and timelines.
- The candidate must be in the Montreal Metropolitan area, this is a hybrid position.
