As a Senior VFX Artist, you will lead the creation of stunning visuals for upcoming game titles, setting the artistic benchmark, mentoring other VFX artists, and collaborating with designers, programmers, and the art team. You will be responsible for visual pipelines, asset libraries, and workflows, ensuring both creative and performance goals are met. The role involves developing VFX from concept to implementation, including bug fixing and optimization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of shaders and performance optimization techniques and should have experience in the Unity game engine, Shader Graph and particle systems.

Overview of Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior VFX Artist to take the lead in crafting stunning visuals for our upcoming game titles. In this role, you will set the artistic benchmark, mentor and support other VFX artists, and work closely with designers, programmers, and the broader art team to enhance gameplay with stunning effects. You will take ownership of visual pipelines, asset libraries, and workflows, ensuring both creative and performance goals are achieved.

Main Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation of high-quality VFX that align with the project’s visual style and artistic vision.

  • Mentor and support VFX artists, offering feedback and guidance to ensure consistent quality.

  • Define benchmarks and raise the bar for our VFX across our projects.

  • Work with design, code, and art teams to deliver optimized environmental, character, and gameplay VFX.

  • Develop VFX from concept through to implementation, including bug fixing, polish, and performance optimization.

  • Establish and maintain VFX pipelines, ensuring they are efficient and scalable for the team.

  • Create textures, models, animations, and simulations using tools like Photoshop, Substance, and 3D software such as 3dsMax, Maya, or Blender.

  • Research and stay up to date with the latest tools, techniques, and trends in real-time VFX.

What We Are Looking For:

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience working as a VFX artist in the games industry.

  • Proven experience in the Unity game engine, with a strong understanding of Unity’s Shader Graph and particle systems.

  • Shipped at least 2 game titles.

  • Strong understanding of shaders and performance optimization techniques for VFX.

  • High proficiency in 3D tools like 3dsMax, Maya, or Blender, and 2D tools like Photoshop or Substance.

  • Technical knowledge of game performance standards, asset optimization, and memory management.

Personal:

  • Have a passion for high-quality VFX and awareness of latest video game industry games and technology trends.

  • Have exceptional attention to detail.

  • Have excellent understanding of VFX creation pipelines.

  • Be able to think critically, and apply analytical skills to find simple, robust, and efficient solutions to complex issues.

  • Be able to handle shifting schedules, priorities, and multiple projects.

  • Be a team player with excellent communication skills who is always professional.
