Job Summary
Proofpoint is seeking an experienced Staff Financial Analyst to partner with the Worldwide Sales organization. This role involves leading FP&A support, including annual planning, quarterly forecasts, and monthly outlooks for headcount, expenses, and GTM investments. The analyst will provide strategic variance analysis, enhance financial models, develop KPIs, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive operational efficiency and influence revenue growth decisions. This high-visibility position requires strong financial acumen and the ability to partner with senior business leaders.
Must Have
- Lead FP&A support for Worldwide Sales, including annual planning, quarterly forecasts, and monthly outlooks
- Provide strategic variance analysis on expenses, headcount, and GTM investments
- Own and enhance financial models to accurately forecast performance and support decision-making
- Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs to measure sales productivity and cost efficiency
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales Ops, HR, and Accounting to align headcount planning and resource allocation
- Drive process improvements and implement scalable tools
- Prepare executive-level presentations for senior leadership
- 10+ years of experience in FP&A or finance roles, with a strong background in sales finance or GTM support
- Proven ability to partner with senior business leaders and influence strategic decisions
- Deep understanding of financial planning, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (complex modeling) and PowerPoint
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and expense recognition
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and deliver under tight deadlines
Good to Have
- Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Adaptive Planning)
- ASC 606 familiarity
- MBA, CPA, or equivalent advanced degree
- Experience in high-growth SaaS or technology environments
- Strong analytical mindset with a strategic perspective and operational execution capability

The Role and the Team
We are seeking an experienced finance leader with progressive FP&A experience to partner with our Worldwide Sales organization. This role will serve as a strategic advisor to Sales leadership, owning the planning, forecasting, and reporting processes for headcount, expenses, and GTM investments. You will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, driving operational efficiency, and influencing decisions that impact revenue growth. This is a high-visibility position with significant exposure to senior executives.
Your Day-to-Day
- Lead FP&A support for Worldwide Sales, including annual planning, quarterly forecasts, and monthly outlooks.
- Provide strategic variance analysis on expenses, headcount, and GTM investments; deliver actionable insights to Sales leadership.
- Own and enhance financial models to accurately forecast performance and support decision-making.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs to measure sales productivity and cost efficiency.
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales Ops, HR, and Accounting to align headcount planning and resource allocation.
- Drive process improvements and implement scalable tools to support a rapidly growing global sales organization.
- Prepare executive-level presentations for senior leadership and contribute to Board-level reporting as needed.
What You Bring to the Team
- 10+ years of experience in FP&A or finance roles, with a strong background in sales finance or GTM support.
- Proven ability to partner with senior business leaders and influence strategic decisions.
- Deep understanding of financial planning, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (complex modeling) and PowerPoint; experience with BI tools (Power BI, Adaptive Planning) a plus.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and expense recognition (ASC 606 familiarity preferred).
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills; comfortable interacting with executives.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and deliver under tight deadlines.

Base Pay Range: 166,500.00 - 244,200.00 USD
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:
Base Pay Range: 136,200.00 - 199,760.00 USD
All other cities and states excluding those listed above:
Base Pay Range: 124,100.00 - 182,050.00 USD
