Tech Lead (Infrastructure)

Nexters, an international game development company listed on NASDAQ, is seeking a Tech Lead for Infrastructure. This role involves leading a team to design, implement, and maintain a unified CI/CD standard, evolving backend infrastructure, and advancing DevOps practices. The Tech Lead will also be responsible for team leadership, planning, task allocation, performance reviews, and ensuring adherence to engineering practices and quality requirements.

Must Have

• 7+ years in DevOps, infrastructure, or backend platform engineering
• 2+ years in a leadership role
• Proven experience implementing CI/CD in large development teams
• Expertise in process design, infrastructure architecture, and tool selection for CI/CD
• Experience with GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
• Proficiency in AWS and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Ability to manage backend infrastructure, monitoring, logging, scaling, and high availability
• Strong automation skills including scripting, pipelines, testing, and process retrospectives
• Experience building developer enablement platforms and internal platform services
• Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage tasks, and ensure delivery timelines
• Skilled in establishing transparent development processes and providing performance feedback
• Ability to build effective team collaboration, negotiate, and resolve conflicts

What you’ll be doing

Product Development and Delivery

• Auditing existing CI/CD processes and tools, developing a migration plan from legacy solutions, and using it to design, implement, and maintain a unified CI/CD standard for product teams
• Designing and implementing a target solution that enables product teams to conveniently, quickly, and securely develop new functionality and deliver it to players
• Rolling out the solution into the product, supporting product teams during integration and further operation
• Maintaining and evolving backend infrastructure
• Implementing and advancing DevOps practices

Team Leadership

• Planning the team’s work and allocating tasks among team members
• Estimating delivery timelines and monitoring their adherence
• Introducing process and pipeline improvements into the team
• Ensuring transparency of the team’s work:
• The team must clearly understand what is expected from them, when, and at what quality level
• Stakeholders must always have visibility into the current stage of the feature/stream in the development lifecycle
• Ensuring that all tools supporting the development process are up to date: documentation, task trackers, and necessary recurring meetings
• Providing regular feedback to team members (including on technical competencies)
• Conducting Performance Reviews
• Initiating team composition changes:
• Propose hiring new employees, participate in defining candidate requirements, probation goals, and take part in candidate selection
• Propose role changes for team members
• Initiate bonuses for team members based on performance

Technology

• Ensuring compliance with quality requirements, common approaches, and policies adopted in the project and the company
• Ensuring adherence to engineering practices and processes defined for the project and the company (e.g., design, code review, testing, incident analysis).

We hope that you have

• At least 7 years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or backend platform engineering, including at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Proven experience implementing CI/CD in large development teams: process design, infrastructure architecture, tool selection and implementation, rollout to product teams, and ongoing support
• Experience with GitLab CI (experience with GitOps and Argo CD is a plus)
• Experience with containerization and deployment management: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
• Experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Ability to work with backend infrastructure: services, microservices, API layers, monitoring, logging, scaling, and high availability
• Excellent automation skills: scripting, pipelines, testing, process retrospectives
• Experience building developer enablement platforms: CI/CD systems, development environments, internal platform services
• Ability to establish processes that ensure development transparency and meet delivery deadlines
• Ability to communicate values and motivate the team to achieve goals
• Ability to set goals, monitor execution, and provide high-quality performance feedback
• Ability to build effective team collaboration, negotiate, and resolve conflicts
