Job Summary
Electronic Arts is seeking a Blendshape Artist to join the EA Create team in Vancouver, British Columbia. This role involves guiding the entire creation process of character heads, working with scan data and photos to develop neutral heads and blendshapes for in-game use. The artist will collaborate with client partners, external vendors, and internal directors to ensure high-quality content across multiple EA titles like Madden, UFC, Need for Speed, Dead Space, and Battlefield.
Must Have
- Create neutral heads (model/texture)
- Create blendshapes
- Collaborate with client partners through art reviews
- Work with external vendors to maintain Blendshape quality
- Document workflows for team members
- 5+ years experience in modeling and character art
- Experience with Maya, Photoshop, and ZBrush
- Expert understanding of human anatomy, proportion, silhouette, topology, and deformation
Good to Have
- Experience with Substance Painter and Wrap
- Game Engine Experience (Commercial or Proprietary)
- Understanding of FACS
- Experience in animation

The Rigging team creates systems to support character and vehicle animation by developing body and facial rigging systems, animation interfaces and by supporting animators with technical setup and production.
EA Create Blendshapes, the multifaceted team mostly based between Orlando, Florida and Vancouver, Canada is best known for creating amazing work in titles such as Madden, UFC, Need for Speed, Dead Space, and Battlefield to name a few; and we're looking for a Blendshape Artist to work on upcoming titles. This role will report into the Blendshape Director.
Responsibilities:
- Neutral Heads (Model / Texture)
- Blendshape creation
- Collaboration with our client partners through art reviews
- Work with external vendors to maintain Blendshape quality
- Document workflows that will be used by fellow team members
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in modeling and character art
- Experience working with Maya, Photoshop, and ZBrush

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$91,100 - $126,900 CAD
