You will collaborate closely with Product Design, Industrial Design, Manufacturing Design, and global suppliers. Responsibilities include ensuring optimal design for CNC manufacturing, such as milling, turning, and multi-axis machining. You'll utilize data, hands-on development, and testing to guide decisions on equipment, tooling, cutting strategies, and CAM software. Your contributions will have substantial global impacts.
Must have:
  • Hands-on CNC machining experience
  • Experience with machining, cutting-tool selection and fixture design
  • Proficiency with CAD / CAM
  • Ability to design manufacturing processes from concept to implementation and provide feedback to designers
Good to have:
  • High Volume Manufacturing experience, particularly with high-cosmetic parts
  • Siemens NX CAD/CAM
  • CNC Machine Maintenance and repair
  • Experience in statistical analysis and process control
  • FEA Project experience
  • Programming experience in Python, C/C++, JavaScript, or similar languages
  • Familiarity with machine learning and deep learning applications in manufacturing

You will design and oversee critical CNC processes and equipment used to produce our products. In this highly visible role, you’ll collaborate closely with Product Design, Industrial Design, Manufacturing Design, and global suppliers. Your responsibilities include ensuring optimal design for CNC manufacturing such as milling, turning, and multi-axis machining. You’ll utilize data, hands-on development, and testing to guide decisions regarding equipment selection, tooling, cutting strategies, CAM software, and more. At Apple’s scale, your contributions will have substantial global impacts.

Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years hands-on CNC machining experience (ability to operate machines)
  • Experience with machining, cutting-tool selection and fixture design
  • Proficiency with CAD / CAM
  • Ability to design manufacturing processes from concept to implementation and provide feedback to designers
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~25%)

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $157,200 and $236,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition.
