We are looking for a Concept Director to join our Perfect Dark development team. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to join a studio with a talented, inclusive team working on the rebirth of the beloved, critically acclaimed franchise, Perfect Dark.
The Concept Director will work directly with the Project Art Directors, Design Leadership, Concept Artists, and Content Leads to help maintain the overall visual style of studio projects. The Concept Director will have outstanding fundamental traditional fine art skills with a deep understanding of modern concept art software/tools. The Concept Director is responsible for generating a variety of industry leading environment concepts, matte paintings, industrial design imagery, graphic design/UI support imagery and some character concepts. Additionally, the Concept Director will have demonstrated illustration skills with an ability to create a variety of marketing materials within established studio brands and beyond. Candidates will provide direction, feedback and mentorship where applicable towards increasing quality and efficiency of studio concept art team.
Qualified applicants will have extensive Artistic leadership expertise, creative problem-solving experience, attention to detail, and imagination to explore iterations and produce final creative designs. You are experienced across a range of styles with the ability to provide both 2D and 3D conceptual work across the team, and enjoy collaborating with others to create rich, immersive experiences.

Act as point of contact for concept artists and work funneling the feedback of 3 art directors.

Organize the storage of concept art.

Create high level environment concept based on in-game 3D concept art from Art Director with outstanding tone, lighting and atmosphere.

Create illustrations for project marketing materials.

Create sketches and detailed renderings of props and individual environmental elements.

Create environment concept art, matte paintings, and architecture studies.

Create illustrations for project marketing materials.

Assist the Art Director in driving trailers and in game cut scenes.

Create sketches and detailed renderings of props and individual environmental elements.

Create sketches, detailed renderings and turnarounds for character and creature studies.

Provide supplemental visual direction to team production artists to ensure visual design of content is coherent and within brand.

Coordinate with Art Director, Production, Concept Artists, and Content Leads on assignments for the concept art team ensuring concept art team meets milestone goals at high quality

Motivate, mentor and inspire concept art team, guiding them through various stages of production with clear direction.
Embody our Culture and Values
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Design, Fine Arts, Human Computer Interaction, Visual Communications or related field AND 8+ years experience in art design or a related art field working on computer games or entertainment

Shipped at least one AAA title as an Art Director or related position, including experience in leading teams of Artists

8+ years of conceptual experience in designing, developing, and shipping major game systems in a published game or entertainment with market or critical acclaim

Traditional art skills with a expertise in composition, rendering, anatomy, color theory, perspective, lighting, environment, architectural, character, and graphic design
Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of Maya or other 3D software

Professional knowledge of AAA game engines

Experience in developing key art, brand, and/or marketing material

Art IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $314,400 per year.
