AFRY is seeking a Group Manager for their Road & Traffic team in Denmark. This role involves leading a team of road and civil engineers, overseeing complex road infrastructure projects, and driving business development. The manager will be responsible for client relationships, resource management, and people management, contributing to strategic decisions and fostering an innovative work culture. The position requires a strong technical background in road planning and design, leadership experience, and excellent communication skills.
Must Have:
  • Lead and inspire a team of skilled road/traffic engineers in close collaboration with technical leads
  • Oversee complex road infrastructure projects—delivered on time, on budget, and to top quality
  • Manage resources and priorities across a dynamic project portfolio
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, especially with public clients such as municipalities and Road Directorate
  • Collaborate across disciplines—traffic, ITS, structures—to deliver integrated solutions
  • Drive business development and expand AFRY’s road project footprint in Denmark and abroad
  • Lead proposal work, from scoping and estimating to final delivery
  • Handle day-to-day people management, including recruitment, development, and performance
  • A relevant technical degree (e.g., civil engineer or similar)
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience
  • Solid technical understanding of road planning and design, including national and municipal standards
  • Experience with public sector clients and infrastructure project delivery
  • Familiarity with digital tools, road design software, and sustainable mobility solutions
  • Strong communication skills in Danish and English, both written and spoken

About the Role

As Group Manager for Road & Traffic, you’ll lead a talented team of road and civil engineers, driving impactful traffic-, infrastructure- and ITS projects that shape the way people move. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-profile road solutions for public clients, while growing AFRY’s presence in Denmark as well as internationally. You will combine strategic leadership with meaningful engineering that strives to improve everyday life. Your key responsibilities will include:

You will work from our office in Aarhus and Herning and be part of AFRY Road & Rail Denmark management team, contributing to strategic decisions, knowledge sharing, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture.

Qualifications

Your Qualifications

We believe you’ll thrive in this role if you are motivated by both technical and leadership challenges and can demonstrate the following:

  • A relevant technical degree (e.g., civil engineer or similar)
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience, preferably in consulting or infrastructure
  • Solid technical understanding of road planning and design, including national and municipal standards
  • Experience with public sector clients and infrastructure project delivery
  • Familiarity with digital tools, road design software, and sustainable mobility solutions
  • Strong communication skills in Danish and English, both written and spoken

A collaborative, quality-conscious and accountable mindset will be second nature to this role.
