Job Description

This internship involves leading a continuous improvement project within an APRU (autonomous production and repair unit) at Thales Vendôme. The main objective is to reduce non-value-added activities for an avionics product. Key tasks include describing existing processes, analyzing current states, defining improvement actions, piloting their implementation, and measuring progress. The role requires a final-year engineering student with Lean methodology knowledge and industrial internship experience.
Must Have:
  • Describe the existing process: current flow (e.g., via VSM), timings (VA/NVA breakdown), and pain points (communication with the production island).
  • Analyze the existing process: Pareto of times, biggest pain points.
  • Define improvement actions: brainstorming with relevant teams, quantifying gain/effort, prioritization.
  • Pilot the implementation of improvements: planning, setting up monitoring routines, follow-ups.
  • Measure the progress made, compared to the objective and expectations.
  • Organize and plan.
  • Make presentations and reports.
  • Knowledge of Lean tools and methods.
  • Experience in industrial internship (production).
  • Listening and observation skills.
  • Curiosity and proactivity.
  • Team spirit.
  • Final year of a BAC+5 engineering school or equivalent university degree in Methods, Lean, or General Engineering.

Our Vendôme site welcomes you to the heart of the Loire Valley and its castles. A reference for avionics production, it is easily accessible by TGV from Paris and Tours.

You will be part of the support team of an APRU (autonomous production and repair unit). You will be responsible for leading a continuous improvement project, with the objective of reducing the non-value-added portion of an avionics product.

Your missions:

  • Describe the existing: the current flow (e.g., through a VSM), timings (with VA/NVA breakdown), irritants (communication with the production island).
  • Analyze the existing: Pareto of times, biggest irritants.
  • Define improvement actions: brainstorming with the teams concerned, quantifying gain/effort, prioritization.
  • Pilot the implementation of improvements: planning, setting up monitoring routines, follow-ups.
  • Measure the progress made, compared to the objective and expectations.

Your profile:

You are in the final year of a BAC+5 engineering school or an equivalent university degree, in the Methods, Lean, Generalist field, and you are looking for a 6-month internship?

You have the following skills:

  • Organize and plan, make presentations and reports.
  • Knowledge of Lean tools and methods.
  • Experience in industrial internship (production).
  • Listening and observation.
  • Curiosity and proactivity.
  • Team spirit.
