Job Description

This role is based on Disney's private island, Castaway Cay in the Bahamas. As Island General Maintenance - Projects, you'll perform preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to repair needs, and work on special projects focusing on concrete work. Responsibilities include executing work orders, estimating time and materials, handling concrete work (mixing, pouring, finishing), and promoting a safe work environment. You'll use various tools and machinery, and may assist other departments. The position requires 3+ years of experience in general maintenance/concrete work or equivalent training. This is a field service role involving work at heights and in confined spaces.

This role is based on Disney's private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.

As General Maintenance - Projects you will perform general preventive and corrective maintenance procedures, as well as, responding to guest or operational repair needs, with focus on assigned discipline. You will operate a variety of equipment and machinery including saws, drill presses and hand/power tools to perform repair and maintenance work. This is a special projects general maintenance position with emphasis on concrete work.

You will report to the Assistant Manager – Island General Maintenance

Responsibilities:

Your Responsibilities – How You Will Make a Difference

  • Execute work orders and estimate time and materials
  • Estimate concrete quantities, appropriate mixes of sand and cement
  • Experience cutting and placing strengthening wire mesh, tie rebar, preparing appropriate sand and cement mixtures and placing, pouring and rough leveling of concrete
  • Perform concrete finishing by floating, troweling, edging and brushing observing project specifications
  • Promote a safe work environment; Comply with the safety competencies, and all company policies
  • May provide lateral service to other departments

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications – What You Will Bring to the Team

  • 3 or more years experience in the areas of general maintenance/concrete; Experience can be substituted with technical/vocational training in general maintenance concrete and repair or other relevant experience for understudy development
  • Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials common to general maintenance concrete
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of general maintenance concrete
  • Experience using trade tools including wire mesh, tie rebar, concrete and sand mixtures, brushing, edging and hand tools
  • This is a field service position that may include work from ladders, elevated platforms and working in confined spaces
  • Legally authorized to work in The Bahamas

Your Responsibilities:
  • Obtain a criminal background check
  • Bring approved work shoes


**Disney Cruise Line is a drug-free workplace. All new hires are required to undergo drug/alcohol testing within the first week onboard and throughout their contracts. Failure to pass the drug/alcohol testing will result in immediate termination.
