Location: US - Remote
As a People Operations Generalist at dbt Labs, you’ll play a key role in creating a seamless and thoughtful employee experience across every stage of the lifecycle. You’ll be a go-to partner for employees and cross-functional teams, helping to ensure our processes run smoothly, our data stays accurate, and our operations remain compliant. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and takes pride in bringing structure, clarity, and care to every interaction.
What You’ll Do
- Act as a subject matter expert in on-boarding, off-boarding, and employee lifecycle changes, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
- Assist with immigration cases, including visa sponsorship, renewals, and compliance, in partnership with external immigration counsel.
- Ensure HR policies, work authorization processes, and employment-related compliance requirements align with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support internal and external audits, conducting regular internal data audits and maintaining accurate records.
- Manage and update HR systems, process job changes and ensuring data accuracy and compliance across all People Operations processes.
- Support Leave of Absence (LOA) requests in partnership with the Benefits team and LOA administrator, ensuring compliance with policies and providing a positive employee experience.
- Address complex employee inquiries, serving as an escalation point, providing high-level customer service and problem resolution while meeting team SLAs.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional projects or initiatives, such as system implementations or global HR projects, where deeper HR knowledge and strategic input are required.
- Support various People team projects, providing insights and expertise on best practices. Take ownership of specific work streams and deliverables, ensuring project goals are met effectively.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation on team processes, policies, and procedures. Act as a resource for sharing knowledge and best practices with team members.
What You’ll Need
- At least 1 year of relevant experience as a People Operations Generalist, Coordinator, or in a similar HR role.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively across teams and levels.
- Hands-on experience managing People Operations processes across the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding.
- Experience working with an HRIS (ie. ADP, Workday)
- Proven ability to handle sensitive, confidential, and complex employee situations with sound judgment and discretion.
- A solid understanding of employment law and HR compliance fundamentals.
- Experience managing complex or ambiguous employee inquiries and knowing when to escalate appropriately.

- The typical starting salary range for this role is: $71,000 - $85,500
- The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed is: $78,000 - $95,000
