Job Description

As a Principal Design Engineer at Cadence Tensilica, you will be an R&D Applications Engineer specializing in Functional Safety. Your role involves becoming an expert in Cadence Tensilica Functional Safety products, processor architecture, and software development tools. You will work directly with customers, providing technical guidance, resolving issues, and supporting evaluations to secure business. Additionally, you will review new products and features and influence future Tensilica product development, particularly in Functional Safety, by providing technical feedback to engineering teams.
Must have:
  • Become expert on Cadence Tensilica Functional Safety products.
  • Become expert on Cadence Tensilica Processor architecture.
  • Become expert on Cadence Tensilica Software Development Tool products.
  • Work directly with customers, providing guidance and addressing technical issues.
  • Provide technical expertise during customer evaluations.
  • Complete evaluation and review of new products and features.
  • Influence future Tensilica products, especially Functional Safety products.
  • BS/MS in EE/CS or equivalent plus 7+ years work experience.
  • In-depth understanding of Computer architecture/ RISC processors/ DSPs.
  • Hands-on experience in embedded systems software development in C/C++, optimization and debugging.
  • Knowledge of assembly level programming and issues.
  • Good working knowledge of embedded software development tools.
  • Knowledge of EDA Simulation tools.
  • Experience with ISO26262 Functional Safety.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Cadence’s Tensilica processor, with its microprocessors and specialized DSPs in audio, vision, AI, baseband, is the number 2 volume 32-bit processor in the market, shipping at a rate of over 4 billion cores per year.

As a Cadence Tensilica R&D Applications Engineer for Functional Safety applications, you will work directly with customers and enable them in developing cutting edge products spanning broad range of applications. Working in close collaboration with sales and Field Applications Engineering, development engineering, and other members of R&D Applications Engineering, you will get a chance to play an active role in developing next generation products at Cadence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Become expert on Cadence Tensilica Functional Safety products.
  • Become expert on Cadence Tensilica Processor architecture.
  • Become expert on Cadence Tensilica Software Development Tool products, with a full understanding of the architecture, programming model, code optimization techniques, system modeling and system integration considerations of these products.
  • Working directly with the customers, providing guidance, addressing their technical issues to resolution.
  • Provide technical expertise during customer evaluations to help win business
  • Complete evaluation and review of new products and features before release.
  • Influence future Tensilica products, in particular Functional Safety products, by providing technical feedback to hardware and software development engineering.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS/MS in EE/CS or equivalent plus 7+ years work experience.
  • In-depth understanding of Computer architecture/ RISC processors/ DSPs
  • Hands-on experience in embedded systems software development in C/C++, optimization and debugging.
  • Knowledge of assembly level programming and issues
  • Good working knowledge of embedded software development tools including compiler, assembler, debugger and IDE.
  • Knowledge of EDA Simulation tools
  • Experience with ISO26262 Functional Safety required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Travel 1 to 2-weeks per year maybe required.
