EA's Production Infrastructure & Engineering (PI&E) organization provides the essential platforms and infrastructure hosting solutions that power EA's live services. Our charter is to make EA's games and services available to all players anytime and anywhere. To do this, we focus on the high availability of infrastructure, primary services, and studio services. We aim to help developers to experiment and build new games quickly with infrastructure services on-demand and workflows that promote rapid development in the cloud. In all of this, we focus on being there for players where and when they want to play.
Gameplay Services Operations
We develop services and SDKs in collaboration with EA’s game studios for matchmaking, stats and leaderboards, achievements, game replays, VOIP, and game networking. As a Sr. Engineering Manager, you will manage a team of 6+ engineers that support scalable, distributed server-side systems that provide functionality to our millions of customers and work on new improvements to keep our systems at top-notch performance and operationally ready.
You will report to the Director of Engineering and as a people manager, you will help shape people’s careers and mentor the team in growing and reaching their full potential.
Responsibilities:
You will create technical requirements for new services and new features.
You will partner with engineers, program, and product managers to make forward-looking technical investments, delivering new features for customers, and driving down technical debt.
You will provide input for high-level planning (resource planning, effort estimate, impact/priority/risk/dependency assessment etc.).
You will review designs, demos and documentation to ensure deliverables meet requirements.
You will promote improvements (process, tooling, etc.) to increase engineering productivity and product quality.
You will participate in sprint execution and assist the team with estimation, risk and dependency management, overcoming technical challenges and removing roadblocks to ensure delivery.
You will provide feedback and coaching to help your team improve and support career development and learning.
You will participate in hands-on development, as needed, leading by example.
You will participate in the recruitment process, interviewing and hiring engineers according to resource planning.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience managing and project planning for an engineering team
Technical leadership and mentoring experience
Experience with all phases of product development lifecycle, including requirement definition, development, test, and product release
Experience with debugging and optimization, working in a multi-threaded environment
Experience assessing, troubleshooting and mitigating issues in live environments
Knowledge of high-traffic services and highly scalable systems
Bonus:
Experience with cloud computing technologies such as Envoy, Istio, Kubernetes including auto scaling and elastic load balancing
Knowledge of gRPC and protobuf
Knowledge of AWS
Experience working within the games industries
