Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer, Vertex AI at Google, you will drive the development and governance of the Conversational Search and Question Answering stack. You'll work with research and product teams to understand user needs and implement high-quality models. You'll design and implement scalable machine learning infrastructure integrating with existing systems. Responsibilities include managing project priorities, designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions. This role requires strong experience in software development, Generative AI, machine learning algorithms, and tools like TensorFlow. Experience with large model infrastructure (e.g., T5X, PAX) is preferred.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Experience in Generative AI (e.g., Large Language Models, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models).
Experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow), artificial intelligence, deep learning, natural language processing, or other ML discipline.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Experience building and deploying machine learning models in products.
Experience in Large Model infrastructure including T5X, PAX.

Propose, design, and implement production-grade and scalable machine learning infrastructure that integrates well with the existing tech stack.
