Job Description

As Service Taxonomist, you will shape, define and implement an enterprise-wide taxonomy and information architecture for Philips. You will ensure consistent naming, metadata standards and content alignment across business units, enabling information to be easily found, trusted and reused by both employees and customers across the Philips ecosystem.

Your role:

  • You define and implement an enterprise taxonomy and metadata framework across Philips, ensuring consistency in terminology, content structures and metadata to improve information findability, usability and reuse.
  • You collaborate closely with information architects, content and writing teams, and stakeholders across business units, as well as Legal, IP, Customer Service and IT, to standardize, deploy and govern taxonomy and content frameworks.
  • You actively manage stakeholders and lead change management efforts across independently operating business units, driving adoption, resolving conflicts, and enforcing agreed standards and decisions where required.
  • You support the deployment, governance and continuous improvement of the enterprise taxonomy (target state 2026), acting as a central point of expertise and “librarian” for digital content, metadata and information architecture across Philips.

You’re the right fit if:

  • You have solid experience in taxonomy, ontology, information architecture or closely related roles, with hands-on exposure to designing and maintaining classification frameworks.
  • You bring strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, enabling you to drive alignment and change across diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • A background in information science, library science, content management, web technologies or similar is a strong plus, with practical experience valued over formal credentials.
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g. medical, automotive, aerospace, appliances) is preferred, and you are willing to travel occasionally (<20%).
