Job Summary

As a Software Support Specialist in Training Centre Operations at CAE, you will be integral to ensuring training excellence for Civil Aviation and Defense & Security. Your role involves assisting with software integration and testing, performing routine maintenance, developing support tools, and managing software builds and deployments. You will liaise with stakeholders to resolve issues, assist with configuration management, and diagnose problems across software, hardware, and network systems. This position is crucial for equipping teams with the skills and readiness needed for critical missions.

Must Have

  • Assist with integration and testing of externally provided software updates
  • Carry out and assist with routine preventive maintenance activities related to site software activities
  • Develop and maintain site software support tools
  • Perform software build management and deployment activities
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders and team members to resolve issues and ensure the simulator software is in good working order
  • Assist with Configuration Management activities, such as identification, change control, auditing, and reporting, for a variety of simulation systems and supporting tools
  • Assist in problem diagnosis, including software, hardware, operating system, network and system integration issues
  • Comply with CAE security and data protection / usage policies and procedures, Quality Management and Occupational Health and Safety programs
  • Able to hold a Canadian Security Clearance & Controlled Good Clearance
  • Eligible to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or with a valid Work Permit

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with integration and testing of externally provided software updates
  • Carry out and assist with routine preventive maintenance activities related to site software activities
  • Develop and maintain site software support tools
  • Perform software build management and deployment activities
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders and team members to resolve issues and ensure the simulator software is in good working order
  • Assist with Configuration Management activities, such as identification, change control, auditing, and reporting, for a variety of simulation systems and supporting tools.
  • Assist in problem diagnosis, including software, hardware, operating system, network and system integration issues
  • Perform additional administrative and work-related duties to support site operations, as required
  • Must comply with CAE security and data protection / usage policies and procedures, Quality Management and Occupational Health and Safety programs
  • Travel and shift work may be required to support site activitie

Required background/Skills/Experience

  • 2-year technical diploma is a related field or equivalent training and experience
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems (including Autopilot, Data Management Systems, Radar, Communication systems, Acoustic systems, etc) as they pertain to simulation devices
  • Customer-centric with experience and success providing customer service
  • Must be able to handle sensitive situations with tact
  • Dynamic team player
  • Strong communication skills with excellent knowledge of English (read, written and spoken)
  • Good knowledge of operating systems including Windows, Linux and Solaris
  • Knowledge of Windows Administrator functions
  • Experience on CAE Simulators is an asset
  • Mandatory: able to hold a Canadian Security Clearance & Controlled Good Clearance
  • Mandatory: Eligibile to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or with a valid Work Permit
