McDonald's Global Technology is seeking an Agile Scrum Master to support Consumer Platforms tech teams. The role involves managing the daily operations of an agile squad, facilitating scrum ceremonies, and ensuring team productivity. The Scrum Master will act as an Agile guide, promoting self-organization and high-performing teams. Key responsibilities include ensuring scrum ceremonies are completed effectively, championing Agile CoE standards, eliminating blockers, maintaining the product backlog, and reporting on scrum progress. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience mentoring Agile teams, a strong understanding of the Scrum framework, experience with Agile toolsets like Jira, excellent communication skills, and relevant Scrum certifications.
Must have:

Job Description

The Agile Scrum Master role reports to the Agile Coach, in Global Tech PMO, supporting Consumer Platforms tech teams

As a Scrum Master at McDonald’s, you will be responsible for the daily operations of an agile squad, facilitating the work of the squad and scrum ceremonies, and ensuring the team is fully functional and productive. You will help the squad self-organize, focus on outcomes, and get work to a finished state. The Scrum Master is an Agile guide and helps the teams adopt what Scrum/Agile routines and champions high performing teams.  

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Ensure Scrum ceremonies (e.g., stand ups, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, etc.) are completed properly, driving team to develop and deploy faster.
  • Champion Agile CoE standards and processes within the team, being a front-line change agent.
  • Support Agile Coach in educating the team, driving Agile standard methodologies, promoting self-organization, and driving toward high-functioning teams.
  • Eliminates blockers and external interferences to development progress.
  • Helps Product Manager maintain the product backlog and holds team accountable to defining stories at the right level.
  • Supports Product Manager in defining Definition of Done (DoD) for the product.
  • Reports to the Product Manager and owns reporting and communication of scrum progress.
  • Participates in scrum of scrums with other teams as needed.
  • Addresses issues with their process and holds the squad to quality.
  • Collects key squad metrics and supports team improvement.
  • Maintains and cleans up JIRA in alignment with standard methodologies.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in mentoring and guiding Agile teams.
  • Understanding of the Scrum framework, with a demonstrated history of mentoring high performing teams.
  • Understanding Agile software delivery, the path to production and other operational aspects.
  • Experience with Agile toolsets (e.g., Jira, Confluence, etc.)
  • Excellent communications and customer leadership skills and strong Emotional Intelligence to read verbal and nonverbal cues in others so you can communicate effectively and cultivate healthy working relationships.
  • Possess one or more Scrum certifications (CSM, PSM)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience of mentoring technology teams on Agile standard methodologies
  • Familiar with change management techniques to facilitate cultural and organizational shifts.
  • Knowledge across several Agile frameworks including, Lean, Agile-Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Extreme Programing (XP).
  • Experience working in a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry.
