Gearbox Studio, the game developer of successful titles such as Borderlands, Brothers In Arms, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, is looking for a qualified and motivated Technical Artist interested in creating shaders in the Unreal engine and who has significant experience in video game production.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create complex visual effects that meet both the artistic requirements and the technical constraints of our projects
- Identify tools and methods to facilitate the work of the art team and achieve the best graphical quality
- Document, maintain, and improve artistic and technical processes within the project constraints
- Share knowledge with the art team through mentoring and training
- Regularly communicate technical constraints and best practices to the art team
- Ensure that visual quality standards are uniformly met
- Participate in the debug and graphical optimization phases of the game
REQUIRED SKILLS
- 5 or more years of experience as an artist or technical artist in the video game industry
- Delivered at least 1 multiplatform title
- Mastery of artistic production techniques in video games
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
- Autonomous, self-taught, curious, and resourceful
- Enthusiastic, positive, and team-oriented mindset
DESIRED SKILLS
- Proven experience in creating shaders, with a good command of algebra and trigonometry
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5, including, for example, Lumen, Nanite, Niagara, and Blueprints
- Knowledge of one or more programming languages (C#, C++, Python, HLSL, GLSL)
- Comfortable with one or more 3D modeling tools (Houdini, 3dsMax, Maya, Blender, ZBrush, etc.)
