Job Description

The Intermediate Asset Finaler plays a crucial role in perfecting 3D models, textures, and animations. Responsibilities include detailed reviews, quality assurance, collaboration with cross-functional teams (modeling, texturing, lighting, animation), resolving technical issues, maintaining documentation, and providing constructive feedback. The role requires hands-on work with assets throughout the pipeline, including modeling and texturing. The goal is to achieve and maintain the highest artistic and technical standards for animation assets. This involves working closely with technical teams to ensure seamless integration into the animation pipeline and addressing artistic and technical considerations.

Job Overview


     As the Asset Finaler, you play a crucial role in perfecting 3D models, textures, and animations for our Animation projects. Your responsibilities include conducting detailed reviews, implementing quality assurance processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues. Working closely with Asset creation, rigging function and needs along with lighting and proper material and texture creation, you ensure seamless integration and address technical challenges. Maintaining meticulous documentation, providing clear communication, and offering constructive feedback contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. You will hands on with all assets working down pipeline as well as modeling/texturing assets for the project.  Your role is essential in achieving and maintaining the highest artistic and technical standards for our animation assets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Finalize and refine 3D models, textures, and animations to meet project requirements and artistic standards.
  • Conduct detailed reviews to identify and address any imperfections or inconsistencies.
  • Implement thorough quality assurance processes to ensure assets are production-ready.
  • Collaborate with modeling, texturing, lighting and animation teams to resolve any issues identified during the finaling process.
  • Work closely with technical teams to ensure seamless integration of finalized assets into the animation pipeline.
  • Collaborate with asset artists, riggers and animators to address any technical challenges related to asset finalization.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of finalizing processes and standards.
  • Modeling and Texturing assets.
  • Provide clear communication to relevant teams regarding finalized asset specifications.
  • Provide constructive feedback to modeling, texturing, and animation teams for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address artistic and technical considerations.


Skills and Experience

  • Industry Experience: experience in animation, VFX, or gaming industry.
  • Departmental Expertise: Strong proficiency in at least two departments, such as:
  • assets/LRC - Assets/SFN - SFN / LRC.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Exceptional ability to diagnose and solve technical issues
  • proactively.
  • Software/Plugins Proficiency:
  • Maya (Advanced knowledge required)
  • Houdini / Bifrost (Preferred but not mandatory)
  • Nuke (Compositing templates for lighting artists)
  • ShotGrid (Task tracking and publishing workflows)
  • Yeti / XGen (For grooming-related work)
  • Substance Painter / Mari (For texture troubleshooting)
  • Pipeline Knowledge: Familiarity with animation and VFX production pipelines, including
  • asset preparation for lighting and comp.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Ability to work closely with supervisors, artists, and
  • production teams to ensure seamless asset integration.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in both stylized and realistic animation pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of topology, deformation, and animation rigging principles.
  • Background in technical art or TD-level troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with large-scale productions and handling high asset complexity.

The wage range for this role reflects compensation across all of ICON’s projects. The final salary will be determined based on the specific position, the current show assignment, and the applicant’s experience and portfolio. This range accounts for varying levels of experience and responsibilities.
