Job Description

The Mental Health Coordinator I (MHC I) will provide hands-on care, assisting individuals with daily activities while fostering independence. They will support mental health and behavioral management, utilizing their skills to help individuals overcome behavioral challenges, providing compassionate, person-centered care. The role includes creating a safe and welcoming environment, mentoring and guiding individuals, and household management, coordinating various services. The coordinator will also assist with staff scheduling, and maintain consistency in programming and individual care. This role focuses on helping individuals reach their personal goals and lead their best lives. The role includes the responsibilities such as, supporting individuals, managing daily activities, and maintaining a safe environment.
Must have:
  • 2 years of experience in behavioral health services
  • 1 year of lead staff experience
  • Ability to implement behavior support plans
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Basic computer skills for tracking progress and documentation

Job Description

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide Hands-On Care: Assist individuals with daily activities like personal care, meal prep, and transportation, all while fostering independence.
  • Support Mental Health & Behavioral Management: Utilize your skills to help individuals overcome behavioral challenges, offering compassionate, person-centered care. Work on tailored outcomes for individuals and work with behavioral guidance plans as needed. 
  • Create a Safe & Welcoming Environment: Maintain a clean, safe space that ensures comfort and support while helping individuals reach their personal goals.
  • Mentor & Guide: Provide supervision, positive reinforcement, and guidance to help individuals achieve their aspirations. Assist with staff scheduling, maintain consisistency in programming, individual care, and communication with staff and support team members. 
  • Household Management: Coordinate a variety of services including individual finances, activities, program services, family involvement, educational/vocational programs, health care/nutrition and household management. 

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Table:

  • At least 2 years of experience in delivery of significant behavioral health services.  Must be able to demonstrate de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, positive support methods and person-centered approach.
  • At least 1 year of lead staff experience in residential services or a two-year degree in a related field.
  • Need the ability to understand and implement behavior support plans (BSP), treatment plans, functional assessments, individualized support plans (ISP), and person-centered plans.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Passion for Helping Others: Experience with mental health conditions (e.g., bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety) 
  • Physical stamina to stay on your feet, walk, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Basic computer skills for tracking progress and documentation.
