Kavaliro's client is seeking a Network Administrator for an onsite position in Deland, FL. The Network Administrator will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and performance of a complex network infrastructure supporting 2,296 devices across 350 miles of roadway. This includes CCTV cameras, detectors, Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), and network switches. The role requires hands-on technical expertise, coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and proactive network monitoring and administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Operations & Maintenance
- Ensure continuous operation of the Department’s network infrastructure.
- Monitor and manage network performance using LibreNMS and Brocade Network Performance Monitor.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and resolution of network issues.
- Field Support & Coordination
- Travel to field locations and maintenance warehouses for on-site support and inspections.
- Coordinate with contractors, service providers, vendors, and consultants for network-related tasks.
- Network Configuration & Protocol Management
- Lead implementation and maintenance of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols.
- Provide direction on physical layer changes in coordination with the Department’s contract manager.
- Firewall & Security Administration
- Administer Fortinet firewalls including role management, policy updates, and configuration changes.
- Conduct weekly audits and updates on FortiGate web filters.
- Monitor and maintain firewall and web filter status and performance.
- Compliance & Security
- Complete SLERS background check, CJIS certification, and FDOT security and policy training prior to start.
- Ensure compliance with all Department security protocols and standards.
Required Tools & Equipment:
- Department-issued laptop and cellphone
- Reliable transportation for travel to remote locations
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in network administration, preferably in transportation or infrastructure environments
- Strong knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking, firewall administration, and network monitoring tools
- Experience with Fortinet products (FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, etc.)
- Familiarity with LibreNMS and Brocade NPM
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
