The Robotics and Automation Academic Graduate Appointee will conduct practical research on materials design and engineering topics, focusing on robotics and automation. The role involves contributing to research activities, including literature reviews, computational materials science, and experimental fabrication work. The appointee will also participate in research planning and evaluation discussions, present findings, prepare reports, and adhere to safety, security, and business practice requirements. This position offers an opportunity to advance educational and career goals by conducting impactful research for national security within the Materials Engineering Division (MED) and supporting LLNL’s Institutional Initiative of Robotics and Automation.

Must have:

Conduct research at the intersection of applied science and robotics control and automation.
Support LLNL by contributing to ongoing research activities.
Participate in research planning and evaluation discussions.
Present research findings to LLNL staff as appropriate.
Prepare reports and/or publications as assigned.

Job Details

As part of the Materials Engineering Division (MED) within the Engineering Directorate, you will contribute to advancing strategies for national security and support LLNL’s Institutional Initiative of Robotics and Automation. This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work. You will

Conduct research at the intersection of applied science and robotics control and automation.
Support LLNL by contributing to ongoing research activities, including literature reviews, computational materials science, and experimental fabrication work.
Participate in research planning and evaluation discussions with other members of the research staff.
Present research findings to LLNL staff as appropriate.
Prepare reports and/or publications as assigned.
Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
