Job Description

Tesla seeks a Sr. Homologation Engineer to support homologation activities for new models and ongoing safety/compliance. Responsibilities include ensuring functional groups meet certification requirements, understanding government procedures and vehicle certification, managing testing and paperwork, and working with US and CN teams. The role requires a technical background in regulatory requirements, vehicle homologation, and automotive operations. Strong communication skills are crucial for coordinating activities within and outside Tesla. The successful candidate will utilize prescribed and innovative methods, contribute to team goals, and work with various government bodies. They will handle applications, maintain certificate information, and support certification information requests.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
5+ years automotive experience, 3 in certification
Understanding vehicle regulations & technical inspection
Experience with government bodies
Excellent written and verbal communication

Good to have:

Import vehicle homologation experience
Electric vehicle certification experience
Established network in homologation

What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Homologation engineer to join the Homologation Team. The Sr. Homologation engineer is responsible for supporting and performing homologation activities for new models introduction as well as on-going safety and compliance activities. The scope will include ensuring the functional groups are meeting requirements to support certification and compliance. This role requires clear understanding of required government procedures, vehicle certification requirements and management of testing and paperwork to support certification. This position is under the APAC homologation team reports to the team leader.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities

The successful candidate for this position must have a technical background with regulatory requirements and demonstrated experience in vehicle homologation field with a strong background in automotive related operations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to coordinate and influence activities within and outside of Tesla.

Use prescribed and innovative methods, work with limited guidance

Participate as a team member and actively contribute towards team goals

Carry out partially defined and moderately complex tasks

Demonstrate good understanding and apply knowledge of an engineering discipline

Gather, understand, and work for regulations, guidance, and advisories required for certification and compliance of vehicles

Make an application and submit it to obtain a certificate from NTSEL/MLIT

Work with US and CN based Tesla engineers to create required documentation for testing and compliance

Assure vehicle compliance by maintaining and revising certificate information to Government Departments

Work with US and CN team to accomplish homologation and safety related tasks

Support requests for certification information, certificates

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronic or Mechanical)

A minimum of 5 years of automotive experience with at least 3 recent years in a direct certification role. Import vehicle homologation and/or Electric vehicle certification experience is strongly preferred
