Klang is a game studio exploring the future of humanity through various forms of media. We aim to present deep, meaningful subjects in a way that's captivating, easy-to-digest and entertaining for all ages.

It's a super exciting project, but in order for us to achieve a goal like this we are going to need a lot of help! From people just like you. 

We are in search for a Technical Artist who can play a pivotal role in creating what we believe will be the first MMO of its kind.

So who would you be working with?

You would sit in our Tech Art team, responsible for developing and maintaining all aspects of the art pipeline, providing utility tools within DCCs, and developing Houdini/Unity/Maya/Standalone solutions in Python, C#, and Vex.

So, what would you be doing?

  • Own, implement, document, and maintain tools in our existing pipelines.
  • Identify technical solutions for artistic problems and workflows with a keen eye for performance, capacity, and scalability.
  • Support artists and designers on a day-to-day basis with technical and workflow questions.
  • Anticipate worst-case scenarios possible within a sandbox MMO with player-generated content and procedural environments.
  • Be part of an agile development cycle, working cross-team with Artists, Developers, Designers, and Quality Assurance.
  • Report to the Lead Technical Artist and Senior Art Lead

 

You could be the person we are searching for if you have…

  • 3+ years of relevant experience working as a Technical Artist in a professional game development environment.
  • Pipeline and workflow design and development for asset delivery and creation
  • Everyday assistance to artists and designers
  • Knowledge of the PBR pipeline with the creativity on how to bend it to achieve artistic and performant results
  • Solid knowledge of Python
  • Experience with C#, especially in a Unity 3D environment for tool development
  • Solid understanding of DCCs like Maya, Blender, and/or Houdini from a scripting perspective
  • Experience with Unity 3D 
  • Gives and receives constructive feedback and works well in a cross-team collaborative environment
  • High-level knowledge of the graphics pipeline within Video Games.
  • Solid understanding of Linear Algebra
  • Solid experience with version control systems like Git and Plastic SCM

Bonus points for...

  • Basic understanding of shading languages like GLSL or HLSL
  • Experience with rigging in Maya
  • Experience with VEX in Houdini
  • Understanding of performance bottlenecks and how to solve them
  • Experience with GitHub Actions and TeamCity
  • Experience with Houdini PDG networks

About The Company

Klang is an independent game development studio based in Berlin. It was founded by three Icelanders in the spring of 2013.


In July 2015, Klang launched its first project, ReRunners: Race for the World, for iOS and Android devices, which was extremely well-received by both the gaming press and the gaming community.


Now, Klang is working on its next project, Seed, a simulation MMO utilizing SpatialOS technology.
