Job Summary
Join our New Games Studio and help build the next generation of King experiences. We’re developing Minecraft Blast, a new casual puzzle adventure set in a playful interpretation of the Minecraft universe — and we’re looking for a talented Puzzle Level Designer to create content to bring the world of Minecraft Blast to life. As a Puzzle Level Designer working in a talented cross-functional team, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of new and exciting experiences for our players. As part of the New Games team, you will help shape and develop King’s games, playing a key part in creating well-balanced, consistent, and thrilling levels based on the game’s rules as well as supporting the delivery of the game’s core vision as it develops.
Must Have
- Create engaging, polished, and well-balanced casual puzzle levels.
- Playtest and review levels created by other members of the level design team, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Leverage player data, team feedback, and A/B testing to refine, balance, and continuously improve level quality.
- Contribute to enhancing the level pipeline by improving workflows, processes, and internal tools.
- Participate in the design and implementation of new gameplay mechanics and core game systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (including developers, artists, and data scientists) from a level design perspective to help shape new mechanics and systems, optimise tooling, and contribute to creative discussions.
- Stay informed on evolving industry trends, standards, and workflows, while maintaining awareness of current and emerging game titles.
- Experience designing levels for casual puzzle games, whether for live titles or new projects.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret player data and iterate on content based on insights.
- Proficiency with level design tools and workflows commonly used in casual puzzle game development.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams.
- Detail-oriented, highly organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Solid understanding of the current casual mobile games market, including player expectations, trends, and competitor design approaches.
- A passion for games, especially casual and puzzle genres, with a critical eye for what makes levels fun, fair, and satisfying.
