Onward Search is hiring an AI Operations Lead for a remote, part-time contract opportunity supporting a leading enterprise client based in Denver, Colorado. In this role, you’ll lead a high-impact discovery initiative across Go-to-Market (GTM) departments, partnering with key stakeholders to explore current AI usage, identify friction points and redundancies, and uncover scalable opportunities. Your insights will help shape governance and enablement efforts, laying the groundwork for secure and confident AI adoption across the organization. This is a remote, part-time contract position expected to last around 2 months.
Good To Have:

  • Prior consulting or enterprise experience working across departments and senior leadership
Must Have:
  • Conduct discovery sessions with department leads and AI champions.
  • Map current tools, workflows, and AI use cases by team.
  • Identify gaps, redundancies, and high-potential areas for automation or scale.
  • Deliver a clear “Current State Map” visualizing AI adoption.
  • Summarize findings in department-level briefs for executive decision-making.
  • Provide foundational insights for future AI governance and rollout planning.
  • Produce department-by-department summary of current AI use.
  • Create visual “Current State Map” for leadership.
  • Identify key friction points and opportunity areas.
  • Formulate recommendations to inform governance and enablement efforts.

In this role, you’ll lead a high-impact discovery initiative across Go-to-Market (GTM) departments, partnering with key stakeholders to explore current AI usage, identify friction points and redundancies, and uncover scalable opportunities. Your insights will help shape governance and enablement efforts, laying the groundwork for secure and confident AI adoption across the organization.

This is a remote, part-time contract position expected to last around 2 months, with regular daytime hours. The pay range is $130 - $150/hr W2 (not 1099).

There is no application deadline for this role.

AI Operations Lead Responsibilities:

  • Conduct discovery sessions with department leads and AI champions across Marketing, Sales, Product, and Ops.
  • Map out current tools, workflows, and AI use cases by team.
  • Identify gaps, redundancies, and high-potential areas for automation or scale.
  • Deliver a clear “Current State Map” that visualizes AI adoption and maturity across GTM.
  • Summarize findings in department-level briefs to inform executive decision-making.
  • Provide foundational insights for future AI governance and rollout planning.

Deliverables:

  • Department-by-department summary of current AI use.
  • Visual “Current State Map” for leadership.
  • Key friction points and opportunity areas.
  • Recommendations to inform governance and enablement efforts.

AI Operations Lead Qualifications:

  • Strong background in operations, strategy, or digital transformation within a GTM or enterprise setting.
  • Proven experience in discovery or stakeholder alignment engagements.
  • Familiarity with AI platforms and tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Midjourney, Claude, Firefly, Jasper, etc.).
  • Excellent facilitation, synthesis, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker who can translate qualitative insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience with AI governance, innovation strategy, or change management (preferred).
  • Prior consulting or enterprise experience working across departments and senior leadership (preferred).
