Job Summary

SoftwareOne and Crayon are seeking a skilled AWS Network Engineer to join their AWS team as a Consultant. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing secure and scalable network architectures within AWS environments. The engineer will lead complex AWS projects, including migrations, using Terraform for infrastructure as code. Key responsibilities include optimizing VPCs, Direct Connect, Transit Gateways, and VPNs, configuring services like Route 53, ELB, WAF, and Shield, and integrating AWS Connect. The position requires at least 8 years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on AWS cloud environments and relevant certifications.

Must Have

  • Design, deploy, and optimize AWS network architectures (VPCs, Direct Connect, Transit Gateways, VPNs, Site-to-Site connections).
  • Lead AWS network migrations using Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Configure and manage AWS networking services (Route 53, ELB, AWS WAF, AWS Shield).
  • Integrate AWS Connect for contact center solutions.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with database, infrastructure, and application teams.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, automation scripts, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Conduct security audits and implement firewall rules.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years focused on AWS cloud environments.
  • Expert-level knowledge of AWS migrations strategies.
  • Proficiency in Terraform for IaC.
  • Strong expertise in AWS Connect.
  • In-depth understanding of infrastructure concepts (OSI/TCP/IP models, subnetting, routing protocols, SDN).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database networking.
  • Proven ability to handle complex AWS projects (multi-account, hybrid cloud, disaster recovery).
  • AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty (Mandatory).
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (Mandatory).

The role

We are seeking a skilled AWS Network Engineer to join our AWS team as a Consultant-level role. This position requires hands-on expertise in designing, implementing, and managing secure and scalable network architectures within AWS environments. The ideal candidate will play a key role in handling complex AWS projects, including migrations, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust infrastructure connectivity and performance. This role demands at least 8 years of relevant experience in cloud networking, with a strong emphasis on AWS-specific tools and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and optimize AWS network architectures, including VPCs, Direct Connect, Transit Gateways, VPNs, and Site-to-Site connections to support high-availability and fault-tolerant systems.
  • Lead AWS network migrations using Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC), ensuring minimal downtime and seamless integration with on-premises and hybrid environments.
  • Configure and manage AWS networking services such as Route 53 for DNS, Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), AWS WAF, and AWS Shield for security and traffic management.
  • Integrate AWS Connect for contact center solutions, focusing on network routing, VoIP configurations, and integration with other AWS services like Lambda and S3.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement optimizations for latency, bandwidth, and security in large-scale AWS deployments.
  • Collaborate with database, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure network designs align with overall project requirements, including data transfer protocols and compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA).
  • Develop and maintain documentation, automation scripts, and CI/CD pipelines for network configurations using tools like Terraform, AWS CDK, or Ansible.
  • Conduct security audits, implement firewall rules with AWS Network Firewall or Security Groups, and monitor network performance using CloudWatch and VPC Flow Logs.
  • Stay updated on AWS networking advancements and contribute to team knowledge sharing for handling complex migrations and projects.

What we need to see from you

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with experience in the relevant field
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years focused on AWS cloud environments.
  • Expert-level knowledge of AWS migrations, including strategies for rehosting, refactoring, and rearchitecting network components.
  • Proficiency in Terraform for IaC, with experience in modules, state management, and integration with AWS services.
  • Strong expertise in AWS Connect, including setup for inbound/outbound communications and network optimization for real-time applications.
  • In-depth understanding of infrastructure concepts, including OSI/TCP/IP models, subnetting, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and SDN principles.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database networking, such as RDS VPC peering, Aurora global databases, and integration with DynamoDB for low-latency access.
  • Proven ability to handle complex AWS projects, including multi-account strategies, hybrid cloud setups, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with experience in tools like Wireshark, AWS X-Ray, and third-party monitoring solutions.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders and documenting technical designs.
