Job Description

As a Bilingual Senior Collections Representative at Nissan, you will be responsible for handling collection calls and correspondence for accounts that are over 90 days past due. You will provide customer service, resolve discrepancies, and monitor assigned accounts. This includes making customer calls, skip tracing, and account adjustments. You will also reduce delinquency in your assigned region and queue by effectively communicating with customers, dealers, and team members. Additional responsibilities include completing weekly and monthly reports, mentoring a team of up to 10 staff members, and training new collection representatives. You will have real autonomy to drive changes in the business and the opportunity to develop and expand your skills.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Business or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in Auto Financing including Collections
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English
  • Proficiency with MS Software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook

We are currently looking for a Bilingual Senior Collections Representative to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario.

A Day in the Life:   

  • Collection calls and/or correspondence on past due accounts greater than 90 days past due.

  • Provide customer service regarding collection issues, process, and review account adjustments, resolve client discrepancies and short payments.

  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts – customer calls, skip tracing, account adjustments, small and large balance write offs and customer reconciliations.

  • Accountable for reducing delinquency in their assigned region and queue. Must communicate and follow up effectively with customers, dealers, and team on a daily basis.

  • Complete weekly and monthly reporting to direct supervisor on phone statistics, reports, legal and bailiff assignments.

  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Collections department.

  • Mentor a team of up to 10 staff members on collection strategies, queue, and call management.

  • Coach, train, and guide new collections representatives.

Who We’re Looking for:     

  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Business preferred - or equivalent years of experience.

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in Auto Financing (preferred) including Collections.

  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English, written and oral.

  • Proficiency with MS Software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • The incumbent must have excellent telephone, interpersonal, organization and diplomacy skills.  Interpersonal communications in this position focus on hearing and resolving contentious client issues professionally and diplomatically. To do this effectively, the incumbent must have collaboration, advocating, counseling, effective listening, influencing, conflict resolution, moderation, negotiation skills and the ability to communicate complex information.

  • Presentation skills are also necessary for biweekly and monthly meetings.
