Job Summary

The World of Chinese is seeking experienced freelance writers, editors, and Chinese-to-English translators to contribute to its bi-monthly print magazine and website. Candidates should have relevant experience, a deep understanding of China, native-level English proficiency, and an engaging style. Translators need experience in fiction, journalism, and narrative non-fiction. The role offers a competitive word rate and publication opportunities in a well-known English-language magazine in China. Remote work is available, with a preference for candidates based in China.

Must Have

  • Experienced in their field

Freelance Writers, Editors, and Translators

Are you a writer, editor, or Chinese-to-English translator? Do you have insightful stories to tell about China? The World of Chinese is looking for bright, knowledgeable freelancers, with relevant experience and qualifications, to contribute to our bi-monthly print magazine and website. We cover a wide variety of subjects, ranging from food to film, law, literature, technology, and travel, with regular columns and feature-length articles.

The ideal freelance candidates should be experienced in their field, have lived, worked, or traveled in China, and/or the Chinese diaspora; capable of working in English at a native level; and have a deep understanding of their subject and a lively, engaging style. Translators should have experience translating fiction, journalism, and narrative non-fiction. In return, we offer a competitive word rate and the opportunity to be published in one of the oldest and best-known English-language magazines in China. Freelancers may work remotely, though we encourage candidates already based in China to apply.
