Job Summary

The Senior Consultant – HSM is a subject matter expert and technical resource within the professional services team, focusing on general purpose HSM and PKI solutions. This highly hands-on role involves extensive customer-facing and consulting responsibilities, working with cross-functional teams on IT security, encryption, DevOps, PKI, and HSMs. The consultant will design, install, and configure hardware security module solutions and integrations, ensuring solutions delivery and providing feedback for product enhancement. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, analytical, and adept at managing multiple priorities in a dynamic technical environment.

Must Have

  • Support Pre-Sale Specialists to accurately gather customers technical and business requirements.
  • Review complex SOWs to ensure customer needs are met and proper efforts estimation.
  • Lead technical solution design for new PS offers and customers’ use cases, particularly with automation, DevOps integrations, and PKI solution design and architecture.
  • Execute, lead, and support the delivery of projects within their scope, following industry best practices & standards.
  • Demonstrate and utilize DevOps skills in areas such as CI/CD, monitoring, and automation.
  • Deliver engagements for products within his/her scope as assigned by the Delivery Manager.
  • Technically drive complex projects involving large diversities of technologies.
  • Provide advice, design creation and review, planning, and rollout of PKI infrastructure on Thales’s products.
  • Keep current with delivery best practices, PS processes, and products roadmap & updates.
  • Report identified product issues, product improvement requests, and new market demands.
  • Participate in planning and kick-off calls with customers.
  • Educate customers on related products, discover new use cases, and position potential professional services upsell opportunities.
  • Drive Customer to implement a plan, minimize escalations and secure PS Invoicing.
  • B.A./B.S. degree required (preferably Computer Science, Information Services or a related field).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in professional services with a customer facing role within the IT digital security industry.
  • Practical experience in managing technical solutions and services engagements.
  • Proven experience of systems integration and/or implementation.
  • Proven solutions consulting experience in large enterprises.
  • Strong background in cryptography and experience in networking and network security protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of information security principles and practices.
  • Strong DevOps background across various domains, such as CI/CD processes and tools, automation, and monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of Thales Hardware Security Module design, deployment, and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), including designing solutions to fit customer needs.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Experience with virtualization – VMWare, VirtualBox, HyperVisor, and Docker.
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to deliver security consulting workshops.
  • Strong knowledge in all aspects of Active Directory (AD) configuration and best practices.
  • Expert knowledge in certificates and related activities, such as installation and renewal of certificates, certification revocation, and familiarity with Microsoft Enterprise Certificate Authorities.
  • Ability to conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions for customers.
  • Proven track records in high quality and on-time delivery.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.

Good to Have

  • Relevant security or professional certifications: CISM, CISA, CISSP, ITIL, CySA+, CASP+, Security+.
  • Strong ability to document requirements and to write technical response papers.
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud).
  • Software development life cycle management experience.
  • Knowledge of Key Management products and functionality.
  • Comfortable with Linux file systems.
  • Experience with Windows server administration: Active Directory, power shell, NTFS administration and group policy administration.
  • Strong presentation skills.

The Senior Consultant – HSM is an SME and technical resource within the professional services team for general purpose HSM and PKI solutions.

The Senior Consultant is responsible for upholding our solutions delivery and consultancy model. In this position, the consultant has a central role in the organization, generating revenue in coordination with sales, interfacing with the customer, and providing feedback through the Tech Lead to R&D and product management to enhance and optimize the solution to meet market demands.

This is a highly hands-on and technical role with extensive customer facing and consulting responsibilities. The individual will work with cross-functional teams focusing mainly on IT security, encryption, DevOps, PKI, and HSMs to design, install, and configure our hardware security module solutions and integrations.

The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base and new products. Service oriented. Business driven. Candidate must be organized and analytical, adept at working in a team environment and able to handle multiple priorities.

Essential Functions

Pre-sales phase:

Support the Pre-Sale Specialists to accurately gather customers technical and business requirement to determine and position the most appropriate services engagements. Review complex SOWs to ensure customer needs are met and proper efforts estimation.

Support the retirement of some prepackaged services, validation of the need to create new ones, and recommend required updates based on products new features, roadmap, and identified dependencies.

Lead technical solution design for new PS offers and customers’ use cases, particularly with automation, DevOps integrations, and PKI solution design and architecture. Provide support in answering technical aspects of customers RFP.

Delivery Phase:

The Senior Consultant will execute, lead, and support the delivery of projects within their scope, following the industry best practices & standards as well as the company internal policies. They will work closely with other PS consultants to share knowledge, train, and practice with new product releases.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • An SME and technical resource within the PS team with Thales HSM products.
  • Demonstrate and utilize DevOps skills in areas such as CI/CD, monitoring, and automation to assist customers in integrating our solutions within their environments and to meet their organizational needs.
  • Deliver engagements for products within his/her scope as assigned by the Delivery Manager.
  • Technically drives complex projects involving large diversities of technologies across products, teams, and regions.
  • Provide advice, design creation and review, planning, and rollout of PKI infrastructure on Thales’s products, as well as the integration with third party products.
  • Keep current with delivery best practices, PS processes, and products roadmap & updates.
  • Work with Tech Lead to report identified product issues, product improvement requests, and new market demands identified during deliveries.
  • Participate in planning and kick-off calls with customers.
  • Share knowledge with other PS team members on both products and PS processes.
  • Attend supported product release meetings to keep up to date with product evolutions.
  • Educates customers on related products, discover new use cases, and positions potentials professional services upsell opportunities.
  • Willing to implement the organizational vision in a continually evolving environment.
  • Able to drive Customer to implement a plan, minimize escalations and secure PS Invoicing in line with sales target for projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree required (preferably Computer Science, Information Services or a related field).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in professional services with a customer facing role within the IT digital security industry.

The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between

Total Target Cash (TTC) 130,620.25 - 226,100.95 USD Annual
