Job Summary

Thales is seeking a Senior Bid and Project Manager for their Above Water Systems team, providing engineering and maintenance services to Royal Australian Navy vessels and commercial ships. The role involves leading program and operations transformation, executing projects within budget and schedule, partnering with customers, managing business strategy and risk, and mentoring team members. The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in program, project, or contract management, with strong leadership and commercial skills.

Must Have

  • Lead and manage program and operations transformation activity for the Regional Maintenance Program East.
  • Execute, monitor, and control projects with adherence to objectives, schedule, and budget.
  • Partner closely with customers to ensure products and services exceed expectations.
  • Play a central role in business strategy and effectively manage risk.
  • Mentor other team members and contribute to future capability.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Engineering, Project Management).
  • Proven experience in a similar program/project or contract management position.
  • Prior experience successfully delivering complex programs.
  • Proven and effective leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and lead high performing teams.
  • Extensive bid/project and/or contract management experience at a senior level.
  • Proven capabilities in the delivery of contractual obligations against set KPIs and objectives.
  • Demonstrated commercial approach and ability to navigate complexity in commercial and financial decision making.
  • Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.

Based at Garden Island, your role purpose will be:

  • Lead and manage the program and operations transformation activity for the Regional Maintenance Program East for our customer (Commonwealth)
  • Execute, monitor and control the project with adherence to objectives, schedule & budget
  • Partnering closely with our customers and ensuring that products and services delivered exceed expectations.
  • Playing a central role in business strategy and effectively managing risk
  • Mentoring other team members and contributing to future capability across Thales Australia

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Engineering, Project Management etc.) and proven experience in a similar program/project or contract management position, ideally within a similar environment
  • Prior experience successfully delivering complex programs
  • Proven and effective leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and lead high performing teams
  • Extensive bid/project and/or contract management experience at a senior level coupled with proven capabilities in the delivery of contractual obligations against set KPI’s and objectives
  • Demonstrated commercial approach as shown in a history of business results and ability to navigate complexity in both commercial and financial decision making
