Telecommunications Equipment Specialist

Kavaliro is seeking a Telecommunications Equipment Specialist to support a client in Florida. This role involves installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco telephony, VoIP, and two-way radio systems. Key responsibilities include performing MACs for IP phones, ensuring E-911 compliance, and providing on-call support during emergencies. The specialist will also travel locally for hands-on technical support, maintain documentation, and assist with equipment planning. A minimum of two years of experience in relevant systems is preferred.

Must Have

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco telephony and VoIP systems.
• Perform moves, adds, and changes (MACs) for Cisco IP phones and extensions.
• Ensure telephony systems meet E-911 and public safety operational requirements.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair two-way radio and telecommunications equipment.
• Respond to service calls and provide on-call support during emergencies.
• Travel locally to facilities and operational locations for hands-on technical support.
• Maintain accurate documentation, inventory records, and equipment histories.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent in telecommunications, electronics, or information technology.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to operate a county vehicle.

Good to Have

• Minimum two (2+) years of experience supporting Cisco telephony (VoIP/Unified Communications), two-way radio systems, or public safety communications environments.
• Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting telephony or radio equipment.
• Experience providing on-call or emergency communications support.
• Cisco Certified Collaboration Associate (CCNA Collaboration).
• Cisco Certified Collaboration Professional (CCNP Collaboration).
• Cisco Unified Communications training or certifications.
• SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) training or certification.
• FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL).
• APCO or NENA public safety communications certifications.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco telephony and VoIP systems, including IP phones, call routing, voicemail, and user features
• Perform moves, adds, and changes (MACs) for Cisco IP phones and extensions
• Ensure telephony systems meet E-911 and public safety operational requirements
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair two-way radio and telecommunications equipment, including portable and mobile radios, repeaters, and dispatch communications equipment
• Respond to service calls and provide on-call support during emergencies, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
• Travel locally to facilities and operational locations to provide hands-on technical support
• Maintain accurate documentation, inventory records, and equipment histories
• Assist with research, planning, and recommendations for new or upgraded telephony and communications equipment
• Support communications operations during emergency and disaster situations

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in telecommunications, electronics, or information technology
• Valid driver’s license with ability to operate a county vehicle

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two (2+) years of experience supporting Cisco telephony (VoIP/Unified Communications), two-way radio systems, or public safety communications environments
• Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting telephony or radio equipment
• Experience providing on-call or emergency communications support

Work Environment & Schedule

• Approximately 50% field work / 50% office work
• Local travel using a shared government operations vehicle
• On-call availability required, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency events
• Work performed in office, dispatch centers, radio sites, vehicles, and outdoor environments

• Successful completion of background investigation, fingerprinting, and drug
