The Wireless Network Engineer will design, build, and operate WiFi networks for Google's global infrastructure. Responsibilities include quantifiable analysis of network data, identifying and improving system inefficiencies, developing software for enhanced performance and manageability, and participating in rotating on-call schedules. Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years WiFi network design, building, operation experience

  • Network planning and design (multiple sites, products)
Good to have:
  • CWNA and CCNA certifications
  • C++, Go, or Python programming experience
  • Experience with multiple WiFi vendors

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience designing, building, and operating WiFi networks.
  • Experience with two or more of the following technologies/protocols: 802.1X, 802.11, unlicensed Radio Frequency planning (2.4 and 5GHz), TCP/UDP/IP.
  • Experience with planning and designing networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in CWNA and CCNA.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
  • Experience working with multiple WiFi vendors.

The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the quantifiable analysis of measurements, or data and capacity forecast models for making networks more scalable, efficient, and deliver predictable user experience.
  • Evaluate the current inefficiencies, complexities, and flaws in network systems, and propose designs, software, and processes to improve them.
  • Develop software that improves the performance, safety, transparency, and manageability of network systems.
  • Participate in rotating schedules with other team members, including weekends.
