Opportunity to Retrain as a Technical Author
Full Time / Hybrid
Derby
Why Rolls Royce?
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Nuclear Watchkeeper to retrain with us to become a ‘Technical Author’. We are expanding the service we provide so this is a unique opportunity to join our Engineering Safety Department which is part of our Submarine Services Delivery Business Unit based in Derby.
We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.
Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career.
Utilising your in-depth experience and knowledge of Submarines as a Cat C, or higher, Nuclear Watch Keeper, with shutdown supervisor experience, we will support the development of your IT skills to enable you to join our team, updating PWR2 operating manuals (Atomic Books), the production of a set of new Atomic Books for Dreadnought class (PWR3) and supporting document approvals by the relevant Rolls-Royce / MoD Safety approval groups.
As a Technical Author, you will be in regular contact with personnel within the Safety and Engineering teams based on site, at MoD, INA and BAES. We will invest in training you and develop your IT skills to become competent using Publications Software Tools to enable you to apply your technical knowledge and expertise to become a Technical Author within our team. You will ensure the plant and support equipment is supplied through life with accurate and up-to-date technical documentation in accordance with contract requirements and agreed programme deliverables (time, cost, quality).
We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.
Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing:
In this role you will be maintaining and applying the technical publication standards.
