Summary

The Operator Solid Waste Equipment at Walt Disney World is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various solid waste vehicles. Duties include transporting solid waste and recycling materials to designated locations, processing waste at the transfer station, performing vehicle inspections, and handling related tasks. This role requires a Class A CDL with at least one year of commercial driving experience, passing DOT and drug tests, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Additional responsibilities may include operating compactors, cleaning the pit and yard, and changing trailers. Cast members may handle cleaning chemicals and require additional PPE.
Must have:
  • Valid Florida Class A CDL (1+ year experience)
  • Manual transmission driving experience
  • Pass DOT & drug tests
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Solid waste vehicle operation
Good to have:
  • Experience with front-loaders, side-loaders, box trucks, and roll-offs

Job Summary:

The Operator Solid Waste Equipment is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a variety of solid waste vehicles on the Walt Disney World property and deliver solid waste and recycling materials to the landfill, transfer station or other designated locations. The candidate must have a class “A” CDL driver’s license and have a minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience. Must pass drug and DOT driving tests.

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $27.28 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Process waste through the compactor pit at the transfer station, clean pit and yard
  • Perform pre-trip/ post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily work sheet for equipment operated
  • Change-out trailers in the yard, and perform other solid waste tasks as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Cast members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required

Basic Qualifications:

  • A valid Florida CDL Class “A” driver’s license for at least one (1) year (with NO E RESTRICTION)
  • Ability to drive manual transmission on commercial vehicles such as vans, straight trucks, etc…
  • Ability to obtain one year valid DOT medical card from Disney’s Health Services
  • Ability to pass the Disney road test
  • Recent tractor-trailer experience or experience driving commercial vehicles such as vans, straight trucks, etc…
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating solid waste vehicles such as: Front-loaders, side-loaders, box trucks, and roll offs
