Please note, this role is initially for 6 to 12 month contract.
As a Senior Animator at Coatsink, you will be required to have a great understanding of animation principles, working to a high standard, both autonomously and as part of a team. You will use Maya to develop and implement character rigs and animations and will be required to show forward thinking and an ability to develop character and personality in animations while serving the game's aesthetic and design.

Responsibilities & Tasks
- Lead and manage animation on a project with up to 3 animators
- Able to accurately represent department capability/limitation
- Understand the game in development as a whole and be able to plan and work accordingly to those goals and milestones
- Create guides and tutorials for juniors.
- Set an animation style that best suits the project.
- Suggest pipeline alternatives to help speed up production.
- Communicate outside of the animation department.
- Give feedback in team meetings.
- Match animation style on a per-project basis
- Produce quality work in a timely manner.
- Identify animation requirements from complex game mechanics and work with relevant parties to solutions.
- Work on body mechanics and acting.
- Work in Unity on animation trees.

Skills
- Excellent understanding of animation principles.
- A strong understanding of Unity Animation / Animator tools + setup.
- A great understanding of Maya.
- The ability to communicate verbally within the animation team and outside of the team with other departments regarding specific animation issues.
- The ability to work effectively and integrate well as a member of the animation team.
- A strong creative mindset
- Self-motivation and a self-starter with the ability to use initiative and work with limited supervision.
- Detail and high-quality orientated.
- Ability to organise activities to be able to meet deadlines.

Qualifications
- A relevant degree in Games Animation or equivalent course or equivalent experience within the industry.
Experience
- Excellent experience with Maya.
- Creating rigs in Maya.
- Good experience of Unity.
- Experience in the games industry is a must.
- Experience leading small teams is preferred
