The Senior Product Designer for the Polypad/Mathigon team will lead design for the Polypad/Mathigon team in creating compelling user experiences, interfaces, and meaningful product experiences that directly meet the needs of learners and their teachers, inside and outside of the classroom
The Senior Product Designer on the Polypad team will be part of the broader Amplify creative team. The Amplify creative team is a group of designers, artists, and storytellers. The team describes itself as follows: “We sketch, we write, we push pixels, we also love paper. We live for the big ideas, and we sweat the details. We work on digital, print, environmental, interactive, and animation projects. We have a strong hands-on and highly collaborative approach to both product development and graphic design systems and ensure ideas are realized to the highest standards of execution.” This description aptly describes the overall work of the Senior Product Designer for Polypad/Mathigon.
This role will be part of the Polypad team and report to the Senior Director of Product for Polypad. However, the senior product designer will also collaborate with the Amplify design groups - a diverse cross-functional product team of designers, product owners, developers, and curriculum experts to extend and improve Amplify’s digital curriculum.
Responsibilities
Lead design to create compelling user experiences and interfaces
Develop user stories, wire frames, interaction flows, mockups, and quick prototypes as well as polished visual designs
Collaborate closely with the Polypad/Mathigon leadership team and engineers on all aspects of projects, from start-to-finish, including:
Create initial designs of new Polypad tiles, features, and interactions while being mindful of high-level product strategy and the holistic user experience
Develop polished designs for hand-off to developers
Partner with developers during build cycles to iterate and improve the project
Partner with the Senior Director of Product for Polypad/Mathigon to create a range of content, including content for Amplify products (Boost Open Ended Activities, for example) and content for free users (Music and Math lessons, for example).
Engage with the Learning Experience Design team as a full member of that team (attend meetings, workshops, etc.).
Further develop AI-related tools that make Polypad easier to use practically and creatively
Develop new tiles and features in the Polypad code base relevant to the design and content work, including continuing to refine and add to the existing math and music tools
Present at conferences (virtual and in-person) on using Polypad Virtual Manipulatives
Partner with Senior Director of Product for Polypad/Mathigon in marketing efforts including social media posts, contests, and more.
Engage with Polypad users via social media, online educator forums, support emails, etc.
Basic Qualifications of the Senior Product Designer, Polypad/Mathigon
5+ years experience with end-to-end product design
3+ experience with digital product design in education technology or a related field
2+ years interaction design expertise and experience collaborating with engineers
Strong visual design sensibility
Proficient knowledge of HTML, Pug, CSS, JavaScript, and Typescript,
1+ year experience designing with Accessibility as a priority
1+ year experience with interactive motion design or games
Any lived experience with teaching or tutoring students ages K-12
Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
Comfortable with collaborative discussion, listening closely and providing honest, thoughtful feedback to colleagues

The gross annualized salary range for this role is $115,000 - $125,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
