As a Senior Product Marketing Manager for Game Communities and Servers, you will lead the go-to-market strategy and execution for Discord. This involves market research, positioning, launch strategy, and ongoing growth initiatives. Your role will be to develop programs that encourage developers to effectively use Discord's platform to grow their games and apps. You will coordinate cross-functional teams to promote adoption and engagement within the developer ecosystem. You will also be responsible for market awareness, acting as the voice of the developer, and collaborating across teams.

This position is US-based only. We are seeking candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

As a Sr. Product Marketing Manager for Game Communities and Servers on the Developer Marketing team, you will drive go-to-market strategy and execution from start to finish: market research, positioning, launch strategy and execution, and ongoing growth initiatives.

Your mission will be to define and execute programs that encourage and enable developers to effectively use Discord’s social platform for the growth and success of their games and apps. You’ll quarterback cross-functional teams to execute from launch to ongoing program operations to promote adoption, growth, and engagement within the Developer ecosystem to deliver on business goals.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Go-to-Market Planning and Execution: Develop Go-To-Market strategy grounded in market awareness and player empathy to guide game developers towards success on Discord, achieving their growth goals, and deepening engagement with player communities.
  • Messaging and Positioning: Develop clear, cohesive, differentiated messaging that lands the value proposition and the “why” with key audience segments.
  • Market Awareness: Gain an in-depth understanding of the Developer ecosystem, including its competitive and partnership landscape, and use this insight to inform Go-To-Market strategy and key narratives.
  • Voice of the Developer: Be the expert on our target audience segments and act as the internal champion for the developer, ensuring their needs guide our marketing strategies and inform our product roadmap.
  • Act as a Product Expert: Know the product/solution intimately and be well-versed in the user journey. You know how to get hands-on or collaborate with others to deliver the right content to meet the user where they are at each phase in their journey.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Quarterback GTM planning and execution across cross-functional teams. Inform, inspire, and enable partners across the org to drive superior execution and business impact.

What you should have

  • 7+ years of product marketing experience, preferably in the Games industry.
  • A deep empathy for Developers and passion for Discord’s mission and the role Developers have to play in the growth of the business.
  • A strategic thinker who is curious, resilient, and goal-oriented with a bias for action and who can look at the big picture to connect dots and create clarity in an often ambiguous environment.
  • An exceptional communicator who creates clarity for internal and external customers through intentional, organized verbal and written communication.
  • The ability to lead effectively through influence and comfortable working cross-functionally across the entire business, catalyzing and inspiring teams to align behind a common goal and do their best work.
  • A growth mindset. Someone who views learning as a lifelong journey and is constantly looking to expand their tools and knowledge to become a better version of themselves.
  • Strong preference for candidates who can demonstrate deep, working familiarity with the use of Discord’s platform for running a Server/Community in support of a game go-to-market.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $204,000 - $229,500 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
