Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Wireless Modem Systems Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for WLAN PHY baseband algorithm development, system integration, working with RF/CHIP/SW team in validating and optimizing overall WLAN performance. This position reports to the Sr. Director, WLAN System Algorithms and Architecture.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
- Responsible for WLAN PHY baseband algorithm development, system integration, working with RF/CHIP/SW team in validating and optimizing overall WLAN performance
- Work closely with design team to optimize chip performance and facilitate knowledge transfer
- Develop modeling and simulations to test chip performance
- Drive WLAN PHY & RF performance tuning, chip bring-up, new feature development, and enhancements
- Perform system test, troubleshooting and root cause analysis of wireless products
- Work closely with internal teams (RF, Software, Algorithm, Chip, AE/FAE, marketing) for productizing WLAN&BT Combo chip for Home IOT and Automotive markets

- Excellent C/Matlab programming skills (TCL/Python is a plus)
- Excellent debugging and analytical abilities
- Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate

Qualifications (Requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience working on cutting-edge low power WiFi6 & WiFi7 client device for Home/IOT markets
- Hands-on experience in wireless technologies such as WLAN (802.11n/ac/ax, etc.), 3G (UMTS, CDMA2000/EvDO), GSM/GPRS, cellular/WiFi based positioning Technologies
- Experience in BT/GPS systems is desirable
- No travel required
