Job Summary

Team Liquid is seeking an Accounting Manager / Junior Regional Controller in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This role involves managing Brazil-based accounting and finance activities, including month-end close, tax compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and audit management. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with Brazilian laws and US GAAP, improve financial processes, and contribute to operational initiatives, acting as a key financial advisor and point of contact for external accounting firms.

Must Have

  • Manage and execute the Brazil portion of the month-end close and prepare local financial reporting.
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual forecasts and budgets.
  • Coordinate and manage annual tax filings and ongoing fiscal obligations in Brazil.
  • Manage audits and all required government reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Brazilian tax laws and fiscal regulations.
  • Identify and evaluate financial optimization opportunities, including subsidies.
  • Review, maintain, and improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Serve as a financial advisor to management, providing clear insights and recommendations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with third-party accounting firms, including reviewing and evaluating their services.
  • Oversee departmental purchasing activity and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Review and manage entries, payments, receivables, and reconciliations.
  • Partner with the Global Facilities Manager to identify workflow inefficiencies and operational friction points.
  • Develop, document, and maintain operational policies and procedures for Brazil.
  • Contribute to regional budget planning, tracking, and reporting.
  • Provide budgetary and financial input for Brazil-based projects, including facility-related initiatives, insurance coverage oversight and claims coordination, and coordination with internal teams, vendors, and external partners.

Job Description

The Opportunity:

Are you an accounting and finance professional who enjoys owning processes end to end and ensuring work is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time? Do you have hands-on experience managing accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements in Brazil, including working with US GAAP in a multinational environment, and hold an active CRC registration? If so, you could be a strong fit for the Accounting Manager / Junior Regional Controller role we currently have available.

In this role, you will execute and coordinate Brazil-based accounting and finance activities in partnership with Global Finance and external advisors. You will own the local month-end close, ensure compliance with Brazilian laws and regulations, contribute to budgeting and forecasting, and manage audits and government reporting. You will also play a key role in improving financial processes, contributing to operational initiatives, and identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.

What You’ll Be Doing:

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 5–7 years of experience in an accounting or finance role within Brazil
  • Strong working knowledge of Brazilian fiscal laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, tax filings, and government reporting
  • Experience working with US GAAP reporting in a multinational environment
  • Active registration with the CRC (Conselho Regional de Contabilidade) is required.
  • Experience creating, managing, and tracking regional budgets and forecasts
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and operate with minimal oversight.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and vendors
  • Comfort presenting financial data and results
  • Strong results-focused problem-solving and time-management skills
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English
  • Proficiency with Excel and financial or expense management systems
