The Challenges

We are seeking a talented and creative Concept Artist with a high bar for quality of design to join our game development team and play a key role in shaping the visual identity and immersive experience of our games. In this role, you will be responsible for creating visually appealing and engaging 2D art and concepts that capture the essence of our games and resonate with players. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of visual storytelling, colour theory, composition, and anatomy, as well as experience with industry-standard software. You must have the ability to deliver high-quality artwork against tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You Can Expect To Work On

  • Concept Art Creation: Develop and refine concepts for characters, environments, props, and other game assets.
  • 2D Asset Production: Create high-quality 2D art assets, including character sprites, backgrounds, UI elements, and animations.
  • Visual Development: Collaborate with the art team to establish the overall visual style and aesthetic of the game.
  • Iteration and Refinement: Actively participate in feedback sessions and iterate on artwork based on critiques.
  • Technical Skills: Utilise industry-standard software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar programs to create art assets.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with game designers, animators, and other team members to ensure cohesive visual integration.

Requirements

What You Need to Succeed

  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in 2D art and concept creation for games.
  • Software Expertise: Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Vector & Spine
  • Artistic Skills: Strong understanding of colour theory, composition, anatomy, and perspective.
  • Creativity: Ability to generate original and innovative ideas that align with the game's vision.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Time Management: Proven ability to deliver high-quality artwork under tight deadlines.
  • Passion for Games: A genuine interest in video games and a desire to contribute to their visual development.

About The Company

In Southeast Asia (SEA), unicorn exits and tech company listings have proven to offer founders and investors unrealistic expectations, given the maturity of the market. This dilemma has left founders in a challenging position as they have to optimise for the outsized outcomes investors that follow Western narratives desire, while facing the reality of the consumer landscape.

At LiquidX, we aim to shift this narrative and demonstrate that it is possible to achieve large-scale outcomes by using a distinct approach to company building. Through a holding company (holdco) structure, we will build multiple cash flow-positive businesses that can, but do not necessarily have to, rely on venture scale narratives.

The usual arguments against this approach are as follows: 

 1) The focus of founders will be divided, hence ineffective.

 2) We won’t be able to get top-tier talent to build companies this way.

 3) That Venture scale outcomes are not possible.

We believe all 3 arguments above are false narratives, and aim to prove that this new (to tech) model of company building is the optimal approach for emerging markets. Along this journey, we aspire to ensure that everyone involved enjoys the process.
